The Experience

Volunteers will have an impact helping our onsite biologist and researchers to relocate turtle eggs at risk from poachers and predators. We patrol the beach looking for nesting female turtles, and supported by the official research permits, we are able to relocate the eggs to a hatchery. Volunteers will also work on hatchery shifts, to help with the eggs, and to take data from hatching baby turtles, before releasing them into the ocean.

This was a really great experience. There are very few places in the world left like Parcuare, where nature hasn't yet been modified by humans. The work and conditions aren't always the easiest or the best to deal with, but not only does this make the work even more fulfilling, there is also a great group of volunteers, research assistants and locals always willing to help. Nicki was also very communicative and clear and very helpful with anything needed. Would highly recommend for anyone seeking an adventure and to step out of their comfort zone.
