Artists and Painters to Create Art and Decorate Seeking Volunteer

Enrique and Kelly were lovely hosts; always kind and friendly when spoken to. The work hours were great allowing for so much free time to explore the local area and enjoy the beaches! The volunteer kitchen was slightly dirty and unorganised with mice often running over the countertops as it is outdoors. However, I enjoyed my experience here and the other volunteers made it so much fun!

Kelly and Enrique were fantastic and so lovely and I wanted to thank them a lot; I met nice people and I created special memories. I really enjoyed helping Enrique in the kitchen and, in general, the shifts (done in the evening). Although I have had a good experience, I think that they can improve a bit both communication with the volunteers, for example how to get to the hostel, and place's cleaning. The room was fine, the food was so good even if not always a proper meal, but our eating zone wasn't the same due to the dirt: just a few more precautions would make the staying better! Thanks!

Ciao
Thank you so much for your kind words and for sharing your experience with us! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your time here, especially helping out in the kitchen and working the evening shifts. It’s wonderful that you were able to create special memories and meet nice people during your stay.

We truly appreciate your constructive feedback. We're always looking to improve, and your suggestions about better communication regarding directions to the hostel and enhancing our cleaning practices are very valuable.

We want to emphasize that the maintenance of the common areas used by volunteers (kitchen, terraces, and dormitories) is the responsibility of those who use them. This includes washing dishes after cooking, taking out the trash, and keeping the bathrooms clean after use. We understand that some volunteers are more organized than others, which is why we are developing a task rotation program to ensure everyone contributes to the upkeep of these shared spaces.

We’re glad you found the room comfortable and enjoyed the food. We will strive to ensure more consistent proper meals in the future.

Your input helps us create an even better experience for our volunteers. Thank you for your contribution and for being part of our community. We hope to see you again someday!

Take care and all the best in your future adventures! 🌟

I had a lot of fun at my time in the hostel. I met plenty of amazing people and the nature in this area is surreal. However I believe that there are some things that can be improved. There was sometimes workload and due to it we had to work more than previously agreed. There was also a problem with food though it was resolved after a few days into my stay. Overall I would recommend this place if dealing with sometimes not very pleasant chords is not a problem for you

My experience at the hostel & pizzeria with Enrique and Kelly was so much fun! I learnt a lot about working in the kitchen/ bar, cleaning, speaking Spanish and about Enrique's very interesting life. I am grateful for the time there, the friendships I made and for Enrique's heartwarming words :) As with everything, there were some downsides as well: The facilities for the volunteers, mostly the kitchen, are not looked after well, partly broken and dirty/unsanitary (when I had to clean the fridge, I threw out mouldy and expired food). Besides that it's very rural, but the nature is stunning!

I had a lovely time at this hostel. Enrique and Kelly were both welcoming and paid attention to the needs of volunteers. Some more communication and support throughout the stay would be helpful, as every new volunteer felt confused about what the position entails. On many occasions volunteers worked extra hours that had not been agreed upon beforehand, and I believe it would be helpful to stick to what the job posting entails. Overall, it was a great experience though, with amazing people and beautiful nature around the area.

Dear Moira,
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your great collaboration and kindness during your time with us. Your dedication and enthusiasm have been truly invaluable.
We are aware that, with the large number of volunteers we manage (up to 12 at the same time) and the intense workload during the summer, certain details sometimes slip through the cracks. We are constantly working to improve these aspects, and we greatly value volunteers like you who take the initiative and help organize.
Your proactivity has been exemplary and has inspired us to encourage more volunteers to follow your lead. We truly appreciate those who, like you, bring new ideas and formulas to enrich everyone's experience.
I want to assure you that it is never our intention for volunteers to work more than what is agreed upon. Your feedback helps us become more aware of the need to communicate expectations clearly and foster an environment where everyone feels comfortable asking questions and contributing.
Finally, I cannot overlook how much we have valued each of your smiles and every cup of coffee you prepared for us. These small gestures have made a significant difference in our day-to-day.
Thank you once again for all your support, Moira. Your contribution has been truly meaningful to us.
With sincere appreciation,
E&K

At first I was a bit confused because this is not a the hostel (even if we have good prices on surf) But afterwards I had a really good time with the others girls and got to practice Spanish a lot. Enrique and Kelly were really sweet and I fully enjoyed my stay there. I would 100% recommend if you are not into surfing everyday (even if you are able too thought) Thanks again 🫶🏼

Bonjour Corazon!

The room I had to sleep in for ten days was a dirty hole full of flies. I took pictures and videos because you can't believe it when you tell about it. You don't treat people like that, we are volunteers not slaves. We are men or women who at our own expense take the airplane to go to work for free and inhumane treatment in this way is not acceptable. On the day of my arrival, after an eleven-hour journey, I was given a piece of empty dunk for dinner. Dogs are treated better

Good morning Fabrizio,

I'm truly surprised by your comments. Your selection was a last-minute decision, as we already had all our volunteers accommodated. You were clearly informed that you would be sharing a room with one of our workers and a bathroom with another room.

I'm astonished that you claim to have slept here for 10 days when you only spent a few hours at the lodging. We didn't even have time to talk properly, as we only interacted for about 30 minutes. In fact, out of the 10 volunteers we had with us, none of them got to know you, which means you also didn't have the opportunity to discuss or resolve any issues.

As I mentioned in my review, you should understand that the volunteer rooms are basic—this isn't a hotel.

In your favor, I must say that your Italian roommate, a Moroccan guy, is indeed very messy and untidy. However, this is clearly beyond our control. It's up to you volunteers to organize and keep your rooms clean. This guy didn't know you were coming, and the room was indeed in disarray. In fact, the day after you left, another volunteer arrived who immediately tidied and cleaned the room along with his roommate.

The bit about the piece of bread we supposedly gave you is nonsense. We have two kitchens, a restaurant, and a pizzeria. If anything, we have an abundance of food here. I honestly believe you're now lying about your mother's accident to avoid facing me directly and having a conversation.

Our volunteers aren't perfect, and neither are we, but there's no need to spread such falsehoods. Oh, and you mentioned being an actor in those brief 30 minutes we spoke—perhaps this is another one of your new acting roles?

I was going to invite you to come back, but now there's no need for you to bother. You can stay at home where they'll take good care of you.

Best regards.

I felt welcome and the landscape there is beautiful! Enrique and Kelly are very friendly and open people. The other volunteers were also super helpful and friendly. The only thing that was missing was food. There was food once a day, so you should plan some money for your own food. Otherwise it was a great experience!

Es una experiencia que guardo en mi corazón ❤️ I met amazing girls who made this experience so much better. The schedule is perfect because you have the whole day to go out and see places! There are a lot of beautiful beaches. Asturias is beautiful, it is worth going there ❤️ Enrique and his family were very nice, grandma and Kelly made us feel part of them ✨

I had a great experience at Enrique's hostel. Working 4 hours per day allowed me to discover the beautiful places around the hostel. The team of 8 girls from all around the world was amazing. I recommend this experience to meet new people and have some time out of your own environment.
