I spent a little over a month at the farm. I have been riding horses my whole life and have worked in stable environments before. I have to say, there were times I felt like I was expected to just know things, made to feel inadequate if I made an honest mistake or even after asking a clarifying question. Work was 6-8 hours a day with a break in the middle of the day because of heat. That being said, I had lots of opportunities to ride which was nice. Sylvie has a great home, stables, horses, dogs, cats and clients! I saw a bullfight, live music & I got few days off to go to Lisbon

Sylvie replied

Dear Hadley, I apologise that you felt inadequate at any time during your stay. You should have told me that you felt that way. I work with a lot of people ( kids w/ special needs, guests, Pony Camp kids & staff and my valuable help) and try and make everyone happy. Working on a farm is tough, for the able bodied. To ride a horse is not to sit on it. Running a 5 star B&B is not easy!! This experience is for proactive and motivated horse girls, dreaming of running their own horse farm and B&B.
