The Experience

Hello travelers My family has been growing hazelnuts for more than 100 years in a small village. As the third generation of this family, we are doing farming as hobby. During the summertime, we need an extra hand for our hazelnut gardens around the house. We have a tiny bungalow in a big garden with which my family raising organic vegetables. Our land 3 hours away from Istanbul and 15 mins to the beaches by car. Our location is Akçakoca/Düzce

The volunteering experience at the Villa was very calm. The activities were simple and clear: we had to team up with another volunteer to take care of everything, including cleaning rooms, doing laundry, cleaning common areas, and receiving guests. Since there are only 3 rooms, it was very quick to complete these tasks. If you're looking for a quiet place to volunteer, this is perfect. However, if you plan to visit Istanbul and its surroundings, consider that it takes about 3 hours to get there by bus.

The stay at the villa was very quitel. It's important to note that it's 3 hours (by bus) away from the city, there's only a small supermarket 15 minutes away on foot, and there's nothing to do around the area. If the trip is for a few days, I recommend it. the guest house is spacious, however, the shower they provide is not the best. The activities are very simple, though I would recommend an improvement in the administrative side regarding the check-in/check-out process. We only met the host one day, the communication was mostly through messages or calls.

Mahir and his family are extremely welcoming and accommodating. The B&B is a little further out from the city than I had anticipated, so if you're looking for somewhere close to Istanbul this might not be the place for you. The work Mahir asks of you is light and the facilities perfect. If you're a digital nomad this place is ideal.

It was an overall good experience for 2 months, its is a Comfortable place, you have a big the guest house for yoirself and the house is lovely, the family is very easy going with a beautiful baby, all was good. The work is straight forward and easy, it can be spread between day with making the rooms and night welcoming the guests but not an issue. The place is far away from İstanbul center but you can arrange time to visit either way.

Such a lovely family, it's so interesting to talk to them since they've traveled a lot. The work is easy and it can be done in just a few hours . I liked talking to the guests and asking them how their travel was. It was a good experience for me as I was coming after traveling for two months , so I could rest here and recharge to continue my travels. I cooked most of my meals but I could take most of the ingredients from the house kitchen so it wasn't a problem at all. I recommend! ☺️ ( also they kept my backpack while I traveled to capadocia ) Thanks Mahir, Melike and Ece !
