The host told me that the hostel in the hostel was full and offered me to volunteer at Porto Covo, I accepted but the staff house is not nice. You live in a flat 5 minute walking, in a shared room with 8 people total. The bathroom is shared with two other rooms, it is in the worst conditions. Besides that, the experience was beyond amazing! The staff was really nice, very welcoming and were very patient while I was adapting. The tasks are easy, and have lots of free time, I went to the beach and traveled around! I recommend this place if you want to travel, meet people and have fun!

Had the opportunity to work at the restaurant, assisting the breakfast for the hostel guests as well as with the customers. Felt pretty welcomed from everyone from the team that I worked with, that it was easy to learn the routine. The hostel team is caring as well and made my stay more comfortable that I could imagine it. And the village of the hostel is calm and relaxed and I felt connected with the nature of this special place of Alentejo.

I'm very happy and grateful to have been able to volunteer at the hostel Porto Covo. It was a wonderful experience! I met wonderful people and learned new things, in addition to practicing my English. Everyone is very welcoming and always open to conversation and suggestions. The place is wonderful! I just had a few details that needed to be improved in the volunteer space, but they're already working on it. I'm very grateful for this opportunity. I'm eager to return, and I definitely recommend it :)

I had a great month here at the hostel in the hostel! The work was as agreed upon and the staff were very welcoming. I worked at the front desk and loved meeting all the guests from all over the world. It was such a chill place to be, right near the beach and close access to the fisherman's trail was definitely a highlight of mine. I felt very informed throughout the experience, knowing ahead of time what to expect or what to do in special situations. Light work with meaningful impact from the people I interacted with on a daily basis. Thank you the hostel staff!

It was very easy to fall in love with this village and this experience. I came at the start of the hostel opening, and it was really cool to be a part of a hard working team! I got to learn many different skills and engage with travelers from all over. The accommodations (sleep, food, time off) were amazing, the people were wonderful. I don't think it was hard work, but sometimes there were unexpected jobs to do. Valeriia was flexible and respectful of my time, and willing to give favors as long as the respect was mutual. I hope to come back soon, I miss it already!

The Porto Covo hostel was beautiful, it's directly next to the ocean and the kitchen was amazing, loved the people who were working there, the kitchen staff was the sweetest!! I enjoyed the food pretty much! However there were some problems with the experience. The place where the volunteers were staying was full of mold and it smelled bad, what is more there were people staying next room which I was not warned about:((. I was super scared the first night ,hearing some random man coming into the flat. I decided to go home much earlier, and I'm glad I did.

Walked away with mixed feelings about the hostel. The owner (Gonçalo) and the manager (Valeriia) really care about doing what's right for volunteers, but the volunteer room is full of mosquitos, and had heavy mold upon my arrival (later fixed!), causing me sleeping disturbances. Work hours are long, the two meals provided (should be 3!) are just okay, and the restaurant staff has a lot to improve in how they communicate more assertively and respectfully to volunteers. Vila the hostel is beautiful, housekeeping staff is wonderful, and did get the chance to socialize with travelers a little.
