The experience

At La Fortaleza, we value personality and passion over experience! We’re looking for an enthusiastic host to be the heartbeat of our reception, managing check-ins, check-outs, and creating memorable connections with guests. You'll help promote hostel activities and provide info on local tours, inspiring travellers to fully embrace San Cristóbal’s charm.

What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Reception: Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.

What you get

2 days off per week

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Drinks: Get discounts for drinks and beverages from our bar.

Discounts on Tours: Get discounts for tours and excursions around town.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely

Requirements

Intermediate English or Intermediate Spanish

Over 18 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

Step into the spotlight and welcome guests from all over the globe with a smile that sets the tone for their stay! You’ll be the first point of contact, creating unforgettable moments for every guest you meet.

Bring your charismatic warmth to the reception desk by assisting guests with check-ins, registrations, and providing all the essential information about the hostel and its amenities. Your main focus is to ensure their stay is so smooth and enjoyable that they won’t want to leave!

Take the time to connect with guests, discover their plans, and offer support to make their stay as incredible as possible. Elevate the hostel’s social vibe by creatimg social interaction.

We want you to maximise your experience, as we understand that you are, too, a traveler looking to boost your time in San Cristobal. We focus on providing a shared experience with you, other volunteers, and guests. We offer free breakfast and occasionally prepare shared meals at lunch or dinner to bring the family together.

Our current reception schedule is divided in 4 shifts :
7:30-11:30
11:30-15:30
15:30-19:30
19:30-23:30

Rules

Our rules are simple and built on mutual respect, recognising that everyone comes from a different background.

Our goal is to offer you an experience in exchange for helping us become a fantastic place for volunteers, guests, and local workers.

To achieve our goal we rely on basic expectations such as being a well-mannered, social, and respectful individual with us and guests, and taking an active part in our hostel's community.

We love to promote family vibes through exchanging food with our workers and volunteers.
