I loved volunteering at the school! This is a place where you can really leave an impact and help the whole the school. You can pretty much choose your activities. The kids are lovely and most of the experience is all about the school and the project. Mbita is a small town and there aren't many things to do besides the volunteering. If you're looking for a reliable place, a needy the school and a remote location - this is definitely the place.

My experience at Mbita with the school Academy was transformative. Seeing children with so many needs who enjoy small things like sharing their school break with us or playing soccer with so much joy is something that I will never forget. Jacob and his family were excellent hosts, always taking care of us. We were able to tour the different neighborhoods of the city and even be in contact with several local families. Without a doubt it was a super enriching experience. Thank you and we will see you again soon :)

The children in the school are amazing! They love the volunteers and include you in their daily lives. The experience was great but it seemed a little unorganized, probably because I was there during summer break and the kids were called back to school on short notice. I imagine that there is a little more going on during the rest of the year. Good experience overall!

Pros: This is a good project if you want to work with children while enjoying some quiet, peaceful time in a safe, small rural the school. You'll live and share experiences with local families. I feel well taken care of and compared to other projects, the fee is fair for what you receive. Keep in mind: Meals can be basic, so consider buying additional supplies. The drive from Kisumu/Nairobi is long, so plan your time and budget accordingly. Be prepared for rural bathroom and shower conditions. Tips: Get a data bundle, take malaria pills and bring a power bank and flashlight for blackouts.

Contact: whatsapp +4790117663 Wow! Nissi was such a fulfilling and beautiful experience. The kids and the teacher at the school are so so kind and loving. I really got myself 190 new best friends during my stay❤️ You can really see and feel the difference you are making during the time you spend there. It was wonderful to stay at Lavender and Jacobs house. From day1 you already felt a part of this lovely family, and they makes you feel taken care of. I learned ALOT about the Kenyan culture.I will be back❤️ Cons: No Wifi in the house, and sadly I have to say that the meals could improve a bit
