My experience was lovely. the house is 4 km from the center of Saukkola, and you can get there by bike or by walking, which I recommend since the area is full of hills. for work, with the other volunteers we did some small repairs in the sauna some cleaning, and gardening. if you're ever unsure about the tasks, the neighbors are incredibly kind and will happily explain everything. on your days off, i really recommend visiting Lohja (you can get there by bus), it's worth seeing. overall, it was a memorable experience. if you're looking for a calm stay surrounded by nature, i highly recommend it

You will have a comfy place to sleep, and you'll be able to enjoy the isolating and peaceful nature in the garden. However, there's basically nothing around besides agricultural land and lakes whose borders are entirely private. Communication from the host was poor. Very poor. Never received a single reply from Pedro, despite reaching out several times with questions. Thankfully another volunteer was present to give some sort of direction. The “staples provided” are just leftover crumbs of whatever past volunteers have left, expect to but your own toilet paper, soap, and cleaning materials.

This experience was far from what I expected. Pedro was never home and only communicated through WhatsApp, which made some things a bit complicated. The place is quite far from the city, and the only store “nearby” requires a bike ride to get to unfortunately, the bikes available are old and don't work very well. The neighbors are kind and helpful people, but they have access to the house whenever they want, which can feel a little uncomfortable at times. That said, if you're someone who enjoys nature, peace, and being away from everything, this could still be a good experience.

While I was not always on-site, there were other members of the community and team present to support you throughout your stay, and we remained responsive and available via WhatsApp — as is typical in our distributed cohousing model.

Regarding the location and bike access: the distance to shops and services was clearly communicated in advance, and we offer multiple bikes. Sad to see that despite all you rate us negatively.

A very positive experience, ideal for gaining independence. My first few days helped me improve my English with the friendly neighbors and become more self-sufficient. The tasks are simple, although the instructions were a bit unclear at first when I was alone. The host, Pedro, isn't present (I only saw him once), but he checked in every day via WhatsApp to ask what we had done. The arrival of a volunteer couple after my first week there created an international atmosphere. I recommend it if you're looking for personal growth and autonomy rather than a group-focused experience.

From day one, Adrian brought initiative, adaptability, and great energy to Gamified Cohousing. He supported daily tasks, onboarding, and resident engagement with care and enthusiasm. His clear communication, respect for house guidelines, and willingness to help, whether planned or spontaneous, made him a reliable and valued part of our team.
We’d gladly welcome him back anytime. Thanks for being part of our journey, Adrian!

My stay was really lovely. I mostly did gardening, which I truly enjoyed, though I didn't work on the sauna. Everyone there was incredibly kind and made me feel very welcome. The area is beautiful, with many lakes. There's a supermarket in Saukkola—about a 30-minute bike ride (you can borrow a bike!), or you can often join a neighbour driving there. As agreed upon, you're responsible for your own groceries and cooking. :) I had a room of my own and the bed was really comfortable! Overall I had a great stay and I hope there will be many other volunteers in the future, thanks for everything!
