The Experience

Se ofrece voluntariado en un hostel en Cerro Alegre, el cerro más turístico y seguro de Valparaíso, cerca de los principales puntos turísticos. Pedimos 15 horas semanales, distribuidas en 5 turnos de 3 horas de 12:00 a 15:00, con tareas de limpieza. Los voluntarios tendrán alojamiento gratuito y acceso a cocina, terrazas, baños, sala de estar, comedor y lavandería. Los días libres serán entre semana. No se permiten fiestas, eventos ni invitados.

The hostel, volunteers and Alex who organised everything for me, were perfect. Everyone was lovely, friendly and helped me with any questions, and gave me advice about what to visit. I was there during a very chill time and I sometimes only had to work around 2 hours to finish my tasks. Valparaíso is lovely and creative, and reminds me of a place I love in England called Lyme Regis, with the colourful buildings by the coast. 100% recommend coming here, you will have a great time. Thank you so much for everything Alex!

I Volunteered here for 2 weeks and was definitely a highlight of my trip so far. The work was as agreed and was very easy to do. Often there were days where I ended early also and was given the extra time off which is always great !! The manager (Alex) and all the other volunteers were extremely friendly and helpful. They were very helpful in teaching me some more Spanish also which is always helpful. I had a great time spending time with everyone and getting to know them all! There are a lot of travelers to speak to and the city is really beautiful. I highly recommend!!!

I stayed in the hostel for a bit over 5 weeks and learned a lot. In the first few weeks I had a hard time getting used to being on my own, as it was my first solo travel experience and it was hard to connect to the other volunteers, because my Spanish is still on the beginner side of beginner and my fellow volunteers couldn't speak English. Still I became friends with them and at the end I was sad to go. I would recommend this experience, if you want to dive into the south American cultures and if you want to improve your Spanish! It could be challenging, to find English speaking folks though.

At first time I'd love saying thank you so much Cristian (the owner) and Alex (the administrator) for the opportunity. I must say it was an amazing experience because I felt so well inside this fantastic place that I'd like to describe every day that I was there, but I'll try doing a summary about those wonderful days: I loved the idea that they let me demonstrate my skills and aptitudes when I was doing the tasks and let me do my volunteering in a calm and relaxed way that I felt like I was in my own home, and that's truly cool to admire and I have to write it here. I hope see you all again

La estadía en el hostel fue muy divertida y tranquila. Las tareas son muy sencillas y los horarios con respetados. Tuvo muchos buenos momentos con la gente del hostel. La ubicación es ideal para conocer Valparaíso, yo pude recoger muchos lindos lugares. Alex siempre muy atencioso y disposto a ayudar. Recomiendo este voluntariado. Gracias!
