The Experience

Our names are Claire and Michiel, we're a young Franco-Belgian family living on an old farmstead near the coast of Wissant, North of France. For 7 years now we are bringing the old farmhouses back to life, while also bringing up our two daughters: Fleur (5 yo) and Perle (3 yo). We've done most of this with friends, family and volunteers. We love hosting and the life that a group of volunteers brings to our place. We hope to meet you soon!

This truly the best volunteer location!Claire and Michiel immediately make you feel like a part of the family, it's like a home away from home! The work done on the project is very rewarding and explained thoroughly. Michiel is so patient with the work and especially teaching someone who has never used power tools before. I loved my time here and would love to come back!

The exchange with Michiel and Claire was genuinely welcoming—I felt at home immediately. Claire is the heart of the home; her cooking was delicious, and her high spirits are infectious. She was always ready to help. Michiel was patient, intelligent, and clear with all tasks. He is an inspiring, dedicated father. I will miss Fleur and Perlulu dearly! Their big smiles and calling 'Isaaaaac!' were the best part. A truly authentic, warm, and highly recommended experience.

I had a great time here and Claire and Michiel are very nice. We had home cooked meals everyday whether it was from Claire (amazing food) or the volunteers on our days off. The work can be very exhausting but the hours are respected and we have plenty of time to rest after work. I learned so much from harvesting vegetables to using a jackhammer and a nail gun. The work varies but almost everything is explained very well and you can ask as many questions as needed. I would definitely recommend!
