The Experience
Craving a wild culinary adventure under African skies? As our volunteer cook at Kruger Park Hostel, you’ll be the mastermind behind each evening’s meal—putting your creativity and love for great flavors to work with whatever ingredients are locally available. No formal culinary qualifications are required—just enthusiasm, imagination, and a willingness to serve up the occasional salad, side, or dessert.

I felt very welcomed from the moment I arrived at Kruguer the hostel. It's a family-run place, and you really do feel like part of the family there (with all the ups and downs that comes with that haha). They're super open to feedback and very flexible when it comes to communicating and adjusting things when needed. The kitchen work is pretty easy, it can get a big busy when they receive big groups at the same time, but overall it's very chill. The highlights for me were definitely joining the game drives and walks around Marloth the hostel to see the animals. I'm thankful for the experience!

Giovanna was an absolutely wonderful volunteer cook at our hostel. She prepared amazing dinners night after night, always putting so much care, creativity, and flavor into every meal. I had a great time t KPH! I felt welcomed from the first moment on! The hostel feels cozy and the team quite like family. I had the chance to do trips to Mozambique and Eswatini which where both super fun :)

Had a wonderful time at the hostel. The location is very unique and there is a lot of opportunity to see amazing things! The activities are great and the opportunity to go on game drives on the same day as a work day is really appreciated. There was some very challenging weather during our stay and Rene worked hard to adapt our plans to ensure we could still have a great experience. The staff are very passionate about nature and this was noticeable from day 1

Volunteering at the hostel was a dream! The team truly felt like family, and I felt at home with them. Everyone was incredibly kind, helpful, and affectionate. The food is delicious and the house is super cozy! I recommend it with my eyes closed

From the moment I arrived, the lovely, kind, and fun team at the hostel made me feel so welcome 💛 The volunteer schedule was well organized, so everything was easy to follow, and on my days off I joined tours organized by the hostel,such a great experience! I also met the most amazing volunteer family and shared so many happy moments together. Already missing this place so much… I hope to come back someday 🥹✨
