The Experience

We grow & process most of our own vegetable and fruit - all to organic standards. We raise a small flock of layer hens and grow willow for weaving. We are always keen for visitors to join in with the daily tasks & exchange tips & tricks. Most of the soil prep and general maintance of the property is in early spring and winter. Our boarder collie and Welsh pony like lots of attention. We are flexibel with daily schedules.

This volunteering experience was incredible. Dorrit and Dave were always very helpful, taught us many things and were always very patient. Our meals together were an opportunity to learn more about Scottish culture and customs. I can't help but mention Maise (the lady dog) and Ocky (the big pony), who were very friendly. We went on long walks through the valleys and farms. I also appreciate their concern in always asking if everything was okay. The place where we slept was very comfortable and clean, exceeding our expectations. They will always be in our hearts.

We had an amazing time with Dorrit, Dave and their beautiful family 🥰. Everyone treated us with affection, Dave and Dorrit were always patient in teaching us the tasks. I will carry all the learning with me for the rest of my life, and I feel great joy in having contributed to their project. Thank you for the walks in the beautiful mountains, for the best bread and pizza made by Dave, for the best soup made by Dorrit and thank you for introducing us to Ocky, Maisie and the chickens. They made our experience even more incredible. We will miss them and hope to see them again one day 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙 .

This was my first experience, and I feel so lucky that it was with Dorrit and Dave! They were incredibly welcoming. Their place was cozy, clean, and had everything we needed. During our stay in our free time, we went climbing in the mountains and took an amazing bike ride through the national park. On top of that, Dorrit and Dave are amazing cooks—their meals made the experience even more special! I couldn't have asked for a better first stay—thank you for everything!
