The Experience

Our place is located about 600m high of altitude in Aso area, in Kumamoto prefecture. Famous for the active volcano and scenic views in Kyushu island and lots of tourist from all over the world. We are the company running the resorts in Kyushu, Shikoku area and this winter, we need the volunteers urgently. We can provide the accommodations and meals for you. In exchange for that, we would like you to help us to collect the particular grasses .

We loved Aso! We had a room with 4 bunk beds just for my friend and I. Soyacasan made delicious food for us. We worked in the field collecting grass for the Japanese traditional houses, but only when the weather allowed it. In our free time and on our days off we just enjoyed being able to do anything we wanted. We worked out, went for walks, read in our books and had a great time. It is not close to the city, but if you have a friend to work with the time flies by real quick. Thank you for a wonderful experience😊

Wow. Just wow. the lodge was truly life-changing! The host is incredibly welcoming, making you feel like part of a hardworking, unpaid family. February in the mountains? Pure bliss! Who needs warmth when you have an atmosphere like this? Your fingers might go numb, but the scenic views completely compensate for it. The food? Oh, what a delight. Every meal is a “delicious surprise," mainly because you never know what you're eating. After a day of back-breaking labor, anything tastes good. As for the workload, it's a fun game of “How much suffering can we blame on the weather?”

My experience at the lodge was truly positive! The host is extremely kind and welcoming, making you feel at home right away. February can be quite cold, but the warm atmosphere and great company more than make up for it. One of the highlights is definitely the food, simply phenomenal! Every meal was a delicious surprise, perfect for recharging after work. As for the workload, it largely depends on the weather. However, if you love the lodge and don't mind some hard work, this is an experience well worth it. Overall: great hospitality, amazing food, close contact with the lodge, friendly envmt
