Changes made during my stay that explain my negative experience: 1) Volunteer dorm: much too small, beds get soaked every time it rains - which is almost every night. Reparations were made, hopefully its well done 2) Meal plan: The meat was taken out and no other protein (beans, peas, eggs, etc) were used to replace it. We ate rice with some vegetables, or chickpeas, or 1 egg, but only twice we had more than one at the same time. The meals were completely imbalanced, leading to malnutrition in the long term. I talked to Paul (the owner - problematic) about nutrition, hopefully things change!

The hostel is deeply immersed into nature. I had a great time learning how to make cocktails, but also learning from the people working there. I had the chance to explore a lot during my free time, and I never thought Colombia could be so beautiful. I didn't appreciate the fact that many volunteers preferred to stay by themselves, and not really interact with guests or the other people working there. I would suggest to improve the housing provided to volunteers as it had some problems such as that it would get very wet when it rained hard. Still, thank you so much for having me there!

Thank you Claudio for your experience, despite creating a family for us is one of the most important things... its something that comes from inside of all of us. :D

An amazing first Worldpackers experience! the hostel in nature felt like home, and the location near the hostel and not too far from Palomino & Minca was perfect. Tasks were varied and the team was welcoming, valuing Spanish efforts. However, the volunteer dorm was quite small, and although delicious, food portions could be bigger, so 6 hours of work felt a lot for the provided accommodation. Also, communication regarding work specifics could improve. But overall, if you like being in nature and don't mind putting in some hours while living the jungle life, you'll love it just like I did!

No training nor welcome (sketchy receptionist guy), disorganized on so many levels, volunteering dorm was a nightmare so I ended up paying for a private cabin. For that reason my volunteer work became more an exchange for food (lots of rice and pasta). I can't complain about my work since it was relaxed for that reason. I think they are just learning how to work with artists. Personally I wouldn't recommend it for the weak so be ready if you wanna go there. The environment is kinda hostile, but nature was indeed the best part and I did focus on my DJ practice which was my objective.

Overall I had a great 2 weeks at the hostel. I made some great friends, drank some amazing cocktails and saw some incredible places. There is a schedule for the week with all the hours so you can plan your free time. Although I wish this came out earlier as it usually is published Sunday evening. The shifts are 6 hours which can feel quite long but you get some days to do activities and explore more places in the area. The volunteer dorm is not shown in the description photos and desperately needs extra storage, especially with 7 volunteers.

Overall this was a very good experience. You are in a beautiful area and there are plenty of great places to explore. There were a few cons to volunteering here but they are working to resolve a lot of those issues. First is that scheduling is also done last minute making it difficult to book things to do on your day off. There is also a lack of training that happens upon arrival, and I think with some additional training and communication most issues could have been avoided. Though there were some challenges, if you bring issues to their attention they will try to find solutions.

I stayed 4 weeks at the hostel and had a good time here. the hostel is beautifully located in the jungle and you're surrounded by several birds and monkeys. I've been provided with 3 meals per day, 2 days off and shared accomodation with the other volunteers. There are 3 different shifts, 6 hour each, 30 hours per week. If you needed a certain day off, the manager did its best to make it possible. In general I had a good time here and made good friends with the other volunteers.

Unfortunately my experience at the hostel was really disappointing. Here's why: - Imbalance in labour done and what you receive: More work than I've seen from volunteers at hostels around LATAM. As we were being 'paid' in food and accommodations, I was rather disappointed in the very low quality of both of these. Rest required in free time. - Less than basic level of respect from staff: Staff treats volunteers as disposable as we are temporary (Angela, Johan, owners, etc.). No remorse. No communication. - Highly disorganized: Not even a work schedule. - Food poisoning

I loved the staff and other volunteers at this hostel and they really made my time there! The hosts are pretty chill and easy to work with and I did feel appreciated. It's such a nice location to be in and it's easy to go and see other places after work if you have a morning shift! There could be improvements on the food given to staff especially as we are being paid in food, sometimes it wasn't that nutritious or filling (Especially if veggie). The volunteer dorms are very basic and could be improved also but sometimes you randomly got to sleep in a private room which was a nice change.

Great place to stay. The staff is lovely and the views are amazing. The temperature in the hostel is great and there are loads of waterfalls nearby you can explore. The work is mostly as a server in the kitchen, which is a bit more work than I expected when there are a lot guests. But overall I had a great time there with amazing people.
