We formed a big group (9 volunteers + family), and got a good weather, so the harvest lasted just 5 days. It was hard work (6 hours/day, flexible timings), but very nice. Despite the hard work, the whole enviroment made us feel like it was much easier (interacting with other volunteers, the hosts, the family...). We had delicious turkish homemade meals every single day, and at night did some chatting, one day dancing and put on a fire. We stayed in a shared room, but everthing went well. We felt as part of their family since the beggining, and we are taking friends for life.

From the very first video call with Victor, I knew we were about to have a wonderful experience.

Victor and Maria are exceptional individuals—hardworking, adaptable, and always ready to help. They are not only dedicated workers but also people with whom you can engage in meaningful conversations about books, global issues, and life in general.

During their two-week stay with us, they made remarkable contributions. In the first week, they helped with the olive harvest in our family grove. Although it was their first time harvesting olives, they quickly adapted, worked efficiently, and collaborated seamlessly with other volunteers. Their sense of timing, responsibility, and teamwork was truly commendable. I am especially grateful to both of them for the care and support they showed when my sister was bitten by a spider. Their advice and assistance during that moment, as well as with other health-related concerns, were invaluable.

In the second week, Victor and Maria visited my daughters’ and my school, sharing their culture with my students. Together, they gave an engaging presentation about their country, introducing Brazilian culture to children who had never met anyone from Brazil before, especially in a small town like Osmaniye. Victor demonstrated his natural teaching talent, teaching English classes with professionalism and ease, as if he had been a teacher for years. Meanwhile, Maria brought her unique energy and enthusiasm to the classroom, engaging with the students in a way that made them feel special. They also introduced games from Brazil, which the students absolutely loved.

And of course, I can’t forget to mention their amazing lasagna—it was simply unforgettable! They cooked it twice, and the taste will forever be etched in our memories, especially Aykut’s. Both Victor and Maria adapted seamlessly to our daily life, becoming part of our family.

We also had fascinating conversations about their world tour and the many stories they had to share. They are truly inspiring, and we wish we had more time to spend with them.

They came as volunteers and left as friends. We will always remember the wonderful days we spent together and miss them dearly. We are looking forward to your next visit to Türkiye 🇹🇷
