Honest review:I've done two positions at hostels before this one and loved them Tommy expects you to be on the clock even when you are not on your shift. The whole hostel is run by volunteers, no staff - and he expects everything to be super professional. Duvet covers don't get replaced-so every customer sleeps in covers 3-4 weeks old Tommy might seem nice but he is very superficial and sometimes screams and threatens to have you fired and kick you out if you don't work properly Please be careful who you decide to work with. Lagos is an amazing city - you will end up meeting great ppl!

Okay, you stayed in my hostel for 4 weeks, and you were simply the worst volunteer who ever passed through my hostel. You were always late for your shift to start, you would ask to do a task, and the task was not done. I had to repeat the same thing 3 or 4 times, and there was always an excuse that something happened. Do not blame your responsibilities on the hostel owner when your work is not done. This job is to be a volunteer, and with responsibilities for sure. NO, you did not come here on v

My experience at the 17 Hostel was absolutely amazing. I had a great time working as a volunteer there. Tommy and my other volunteers partners were open to conversations, respectful, warm and friendly with me at all time. I'm so happy to share my time in Lagos with you :) I also was able to discover around another beautiful places in the south of Portugal while I was there. Thanks for everything. And for making me feel welcomed into your hostel family :) Hope to see you soon.

It was my first time volunteering and I couldn't be happier with this experience. Tommy the host was so welcoming and I immediatelly felt like I'm part of their family. Working hours are reasonable and you have enough free time to explore the city. This is a very social hostel where it's really easy to meet people and I made so many good friendships and connections. Hostel is clean and cosy with a beautiful terrace with pool table, sauna and jacuzzi where everybody would hang out and have fun! I would reccomend this to everybody and I am so grateful for this experience! ❤️

Volunteering at the 17 hostel/macarena beach hostel was truly amazing! The work only takes a few hours each day it is not hard at all and if there is too much tasks for the day the host Tommy is always there to help you! Tommy and the volunteers made the time very special for me and made it feel like a family! I made a lot of good connections the guests because the hostel makes it very easy to meet new people while playing pool, having a chat in the kitchen or go out to some bars. The nature around lagos is just stunning! I really reccomend this hostel!
