The Experience

We are a young and creative couple building an off-grid home in the forest. We are looking for independent and capable people who would like to get suck in building projects and exchange skills for a cozy and private place to stay over Winter. Chop trees, build drawers, install windows, build with logs and natural material from our forest. Let us know what your interests are and skills and we can take it from there :)

Working in the community, Chopping wood, distribute wood chips, stacking wood and so on. Mistakes are forgivable, the work is feasible even for a learned merchant/office worker like me😁👍 The shower is outside and there is no normal toilet instead you have a outhouse. A relaxed atmosphere the food was good and on top the best coffee I had so far in New Zealand.

We had a truly wonderful week with Meg & Neil! From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed and right at home. They are such a kind and lovely couple, and it was a pleasure to get to know them. The week was very relaxed a nice balance of light work and plenty of free time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The accommodation was great, and everything was super comfortable. We're really grateful for this experience and would definitely come back again. We can wholeheartedly recommend staying with Meg & Neil to anyone looking for a meaningful and heartwarming Worldpackers experience!

I had an incredible time here! Meg & Neil's property is so lovely and I felt at home the minute they showed me around. It is an off-grid property so be prepared for an outdoor toilet and shower, which I absolutely loved! The work is super easy and satisfying and it was so fun learning new skills and techniques. M&N are incredibly kind and helpful people, and I found myself getting along with them really well. I loved sharing dinner and cups of tea throughout the day, and just chatting to them about anything. So much inspiration!! Thank you guys for an unforgettable time, sending much love!!

Meg and Neil are such cool people who welcome you into a tranquil piece of the community where there is space for endless creativity and good times. The week I spent there inspired me in a lot of ways. The days were spent quietly doing various, simple tasks, I had a lot of free time to workout, do arts and crafts or read in one of the hammocks. We would chat over a meal in the evenings and people would always come around and help build, bring fruits or just hang out. Lots of laughter. Thanks x E
