I had so much fun at this experience and learnt so much. Beautiful countryside, truly regional Japan, lots of hiking and fantastic accommodation. I found the work lots of fun and overtime I was able to do everything at the restaurant, including the cooking. The staff were super flexible and kind, helping me get to places as it's very regional, and helped me practice my Japanese. I got to talk to both foreign and Japanese travelers and I've made some amazing friends. Definately my favourite job so far. I love the countryside lifestyle it brings and hope to one day come back

My experience at the home was amazing. I shared incredible moments with other volunteers and met travelers from all over the world. I worked more with Kang-san than with Aki-san, and while both were great, I have to highlight Kang—an awesome guy, always ready to help with anything, his patience and kindness made the job even more enjoyable. I'm really going to miss the food and drinks, all of which were top quality. I'll definitely crave a Copper every now and then, and i'll also miss the onsen after work. But more than anything, I'll miss the warmth of the people. ありがとう!

Had a fantastic time at the home, the other staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and the local town is a completely unique experience. The work is quite straightforward and generally not very stressful, and being able to meet people from across the world is a lot of fun. The staff house is well-equipped and even saw monkeys climbing around the neighbourhood! Huge shout out to Makoto and Kang for making this experience unforgettable for me and teaching me lots of international and local recipes (and new music!), had a blast with them and excited to stay in touch. 10/10 would recommend.

My first Worldpackers experience and I couldn't be happier about it. the home work is pleasant, the living situation comfortable, the setting along the kumano kodo pilgrimage trail idyllic. Access to free onsens during the stay and delicious meals and craft beer at the resto was the cherry on top. I would only note that the area is quite remote so pack accordingly; there is however a karaoke the home available upon reservation I highly recommend! Thank you Aki and the J Hopper staff for the experience, I hope to be back another time. Big shout out to Makoto for teaching me how to make omurice ;)
