The Experience
Durante los meses de invierno las actividades de rehabilitación se complican por la lluvia y el frío, pero la finca y la casa necesitan unos mínimos de mantenimiento. Si te gusta el campo, no te asusta el frío y trabajas en remoto, puedes aprovechar esta oportunidad y vivir la experiencia del rural gallego. La casa no tiene (aún) chimenea, pero la cocina, dormitorios y baños, cuentan con pequeñas estufas eléctricas para pasar el invierno.

My first volunteering experience couldn't have been more special. I'm deeply grateful to Lydia, the best host I could have asked for (and now my friend!), and to everyone in the Pueblo, who made this journey unforgettable. I'll carry with me all that I've learned and the connections I made. For those reading: don't think twice, this is the right place for a unique volunteering experience. Beautiful project! Had the opportunity to meet Lydia and stay in this wonderful country was a blessing. Lydia, the neighbors and the other residents of Castro are wonderful people who will make you feel welcomed. The ad sounded nice to me but I did not think the reality could be so good. Lydia is friendly, interesting, welcoming. She came to meet my needs (upon arrival for example, or giving me everything I needed to be comfortable) in addition to also giving me so many opportunities to do so many different things. I felt so much freedom in managing my time an and work, I just regret not having done more.

It was my first trip by worldpackers, but I couldn't have had a better first experience. Lydia was very nice and friendly, I think we quickly found common ground. The accommodation was fantastic and clean, a real traditional Spanish stone house. The locals were also nice. I can only recommend the place!

Volver a casita 🏡, la comunidad, es la manera perfecta para sentirse en paz. En este caso cuidando a Benito 🐈⬛, Clorito 🐈 y Pepiño 😻. He tenido que hacer un gran esfuerzo para no comérmelos a bocaos porque son puro amor!!! Volver a la comunidad, volver con Lydia, Ana, Toñito.. volver al pueblito, volver a salir con el corazón lleno de cariño 🤍🔥. Muy recomendado para disfrutar pero CUIDADO porque os querréis quedar allí siempre 🫂🌼 (Mucho ronroneo) Gracias siempre Lydia!

Quedarse unos días en la comunidad se siente como volver a casa, los gatetes el primer día te miran con merecido desprecio felino, y el segundo te ronronean como si quisieran mimos y comida, y sí, siempre quieren ambos. Las tareas son entretenidas y dinámicas, a menudo con vecinos y amigos del pueblo, lo que las hace aún más interesante y te permiten conocer cómo es realmente la vida rural. #LaVidaCastrexaLaVidaMejor
