I had the most amazing time at the temple stay. everyone was so kind and welcoming to us. we got to eat at local food vendors and we taught english at two local schools. we had a private room which was a bonus as well. i would definitely recommend this experience to anyone who wants to learn about the sri lankan culture.

Staying with the monks was an unforgettable experience filled with kindness, warmth, and genuine hospitalityโ€”I truly didn't want to leave. They not only welcomed us with open hearts but also introduced us to local families, allowing us to immerse ourselves in their culture and traditions in the most authentic way. Tasting exotic fruits, sharing stories, and witnessing their way of life made this journey incredibly special, and I will always cherish these moments.

If you feel attracted to this experience, DO IT!! It was even better than I expected. We were welcomed so warmly, and I felt at home from the moment I was here. The monks are all so lovely. They are funny and really wise, so every time you learn something new while also having a really good time. You learn a lot about meditation. And you will also experience the local lifestyle. No day is the same. We went to many ceremonies, Sunday school, temples, farms, etc. It's such a unique experience, so I recommend it to everybody ๐Ÿค๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธโœจ

It was truly amazing to spend time living with the monks. Their culture and way of life deeply impressed me, and I learned so much about meditation. The peace and tranquility I experienced there were indescribable. I can't wait to come back as soon as possible!

Such an amazing experience! Bhante Wassa and Bhante Subodhi are such great people, they really take care of you. You spend your days visiting temples and ceremonies with them as well as hiking to beautiful places and being taught about meditation, Buddhism and Sri Lanka. It's the best introduction to Sri Lankan culture, with great authentic food and meeting local people. Go at the start of your trip as they give you all of their great insight on where to go. I can't recommend it enough!

I spent three days at the temple and it was lovely!! It's very laidback and there is not strict routine or schedule. One monk from my temple was overseas and the other had exams everyday, so a monk from another temple spent time with me instead. It was really interesting to learn about Buddhism and practice meditation with the monks. They were very kind. I also taught the young monks some English. I was left alone quite a lot, so bring a book! โ—กฬˆ

We had a very warm welcome at the tempel and were really well taken care of. Everybody was super friendly and it was very nice getting to know some fellow travellers. We were a little bit unlucly with the timing since there was no school (so we couldn't help with the teaching) and one of the monks went away for travel so the first days we were hoping to have a little bit more to do. But when we told this, they took us on a walk and arranged a day in the nearby the Center which was truly amazing and enriching in so many ways.

We had a good time. We did our voluntueering during the schoolvacations so we couldn't teach in the local schools. The first day there was not much to do, but after that we did mediation and were taken to another temple to practice meditation there and go to a dharmateaching. Everybody was really kind and wanted to help where possible. It's a really good way to learn more about Buddhism.

The perfect start to Sri Lanka ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome/cared for. Bhante Wassa and Bhante Subodhi's temples are wonderful. Both being incredible hosts. You'll feel fat and full every day learning about Sri lankan food. ๐Ÿ› Each day varies greatly so come with an open mind. It'll challenge your preception of Buddist monks and thier roles in communities. Great conversations were had, learning about Buddism, Sri Lanka and traditional stories. Sundays Dharma school is not to be missed. Thank you for all your kindness, time and generosity. Until we meet again ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ‘
