The experience

Let's step into the heart of nature and culture! As we aim to teach the Matigsalug Tribe to take advantage of their vast forest land, we are looking for respectful volunteers who are passionate in building up the confidence of the local tribes in communicating with the visitors by teaching English. At the same time, you will be required to help us in some gardening stuff.

We are off-grid (mountain area) but Wifi is available.


What you offer

30 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Arts: Help with painting, graffiti, sculpting or drawing.

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 10 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers, Materials for volunteer activities, and Donation to project

Description: Volunteers contribute $10 per day to cover expenses for food, facility & accommodation maintenance, laundry/dryer utility, activities such as traditional coffee making & bamboo utilization activities and for teaching materials.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely


Requirements

Beginner English or Fluent Tagalog / Filipino

Between 21 and 80 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

I am one of the founders of an education group called the Bamboo Bootcamp where we teach Bamboo Building and Earth Building Fundamentals to remote indigenous communities all over the Philippines. The staff we have, including myself and the executive team, are all volunteers. All volunteers are treated as vital members of this project and whatever they are willing to contribute is welcome.


Activities & Shift

Activities can include :

Orientation: A walk through the farm, understanding traditional farming methods and challenges.
Role Definition: Our team will explain the tasks required from you i.e. teaching English & gardening (we are looking for volunteers who are flexible & passionate to help)
Cultural Exchange: Engage in traditional farming activities and share global success stories of sustainable farming.
Feedback Sessions: Discuss the feasibility and efficiency of newly introduced techniques.
Tour: As we are located around the mountain area, we can tour around the waterfalls & hike around the area during free time

Our farm can be quite cold at night, you may want to consider bringing long pants & jacket for your own comfort!
