The Experience

We'd like to open our doors to our small homestead for interesting people with a desire and passion to learn about organic olive farming and put their heart to homesteading and sustainable ways of maintaining rural and/or rustic terrains. The magic about it is that it all happens in the wonderful landscapes and environments of the Parque Natural de Sao Mamede in Alto Alentejo.

Volunteering with Rabi and Chris was such a special experience. From day one, they made us feel incredibly welcome and at home. We had our own little house and a cute outdoor kitchen, with their friendly dogs and cats always stopping by. Each day brought something new, we helped with irrigation, farm work, took off old plaster from walls, and even brushed the dogs (which was honestly super fun). Rabi's cooking? Absolutely amazing, I still think about it! Highly recommend to anyone wanting to escape the fast-paced city life, slow down, reconnect with nature and do something meaningful.

Staying with Chris and Rabi was an amazing experience. They made us feel welcome and were always open to communication. The work was varied—gardening, helping around the house, light renovation-so each day felt fresh. We had our own little house, and though the location was remote, Chris or Rabi kindly helped us get to town. The food was always delicious, and their two lovely dogs kept us great company. So this was an amazing experience, I'm so grateful I had the chance to be a part of it. It's a wonderful way to connect with great people, learn new skills, and spend your time meaningfully.

Ravi and Chris were very welcoming. You could tell they really cared to make this a positive experience. The work wasn't too hard, it got explained well, the agreed upon hours were upheld and I had a nice space if I wanted to retreat for some privacy. They are very fexcible in the planning of the hours, which did require clear communication from both parts. Overall I really enjoyed myself and I am thankfully for everything I have learned here! It really was legendary😉
