Volunteering with the school in Vietnam was an unforgettable experience! Over my four weeks teaching English, I found the program incredibly flexible and manageable, making it easy to balance teaching with exploring the vibrant local culture. Hung, the host, was a highlight of the experience—always accommodating and hilariously entertaining, he made every day enjoyable and ensured we felt at home. The supportive environment and the rewarding work with the students left a lasting impression on me. It's definitely an experience I would return to in a heartbeat :)

I enjoyed my stay and made some real friendships during my volunteering. Hung was a welcoming and flexible host although I think the work and schedule should be explained a bit before starting the volunteer but the hours were good. The housing situation on the other hand definitely needs renewing and real mattresses. Also it should be mentioned that we get lunch delivered every day during the week but you'll have to manage breakfast and dinner and also weekends with a weekly budget which can be tricky to maintain a healthy diet and stay on budget. Overall it was a good experience!

Overall I had a great experience with this as my first volunteer opportunity. I stayed 3 whole months and had plenty of time to travel all over Northern Vietnam on weekends and was even allowed a few extra days off to do the Ha Giang loop and visit central Vietnam. I will say the kitchen/food situation was pretty rough at times. Our microwave was broken for 2 months, we only had one stove top to cook on between 13 people, and the budget you get for groceries is only 350k VNĐ for the whole week which is about $13, so I had to spend my own money on food. There is a good sense of community!

Thank you Sirrea, you did a very good job and very good helper. But for your feedback, not really fair and complete since u just mentioned 13 usd for the grocery without mentioning that is only for dinner, since lunch is at the office and we pay for that of course, the new volunteers read it and could misunderstand it, also 350 is enough or not i think it depends on the way u use it, the other people feel ok with it, so it could be misunderstanding for all people who read it and never been here

I had a wonderful experience with capitol the school and I loved my time teaching kids. The team supports volunteers with materials. The location allowed me to immerse into Hanoi's culture and I enjoyed building relationships with the local neighbours

The experience at the school was a very nice change. You are gonna stay in a very local neighborhood and the people there are amazing and love to socialize with foreigners. About the work, I was in charge of the social media position. The position is confusional, that mainly because Hung gives you a lot of freedom on your work, it's up to you to come up with nice ideas. I would recommend this position to people that have an high personal organization and creativity. If you fill confident about it, the schedule and time are very flexible and nice, once I got my rhythm for me it was nice!

This experience have been great for practicing my teaching skills and meeting international and local people. Hung was always very friendly and helpful towards me whenever I needed something. He has built a foreigner community in the area we live and occasionally we went out for drinks or other excursion which was an added bonus and very appreciated. Overall I enjoyed my experience here. I will say you have to be adaptable and strong minded to do this experience though.

Overall I had a good time in Hanoi with the school. The work and also the schedule can be a bit disorganised sometimes and for me personally, it was very hard handeling the children since they are in groups of 5/6 usually. The Host has staff to help you with that but I still found it very stressful. Maybe it just wasn't for me. The apartment was also really dirty and the beds could be a bit more comfortable but as far as I understood, it is the volunteers responsibility to keep the place clean, so it's not really the hosts fault. I really enjoyed the overall friendly environment :)

Thank you Celina, for the work and schedule, i think they are very clear since everyonee has their own schedule and we sent u and the others teaching instruction and program which is very clear (if you said not clear i dont think you read them), so far all volunteers i had and have are happy with the schedule and teaching instruction even they are not professional teacher. For the apartment, yes need to improve since we have different peopke from different countries, lifestyles and we improving.

I left early because the work was disorganized, I should have made videos for their social medias but the host already has a marketing team, also it was not the job I was expecting to do. Moreover, the apartment is dirty, I get that is the volunteer's responsibility but when I went to buy the cleaning supplies for the house, the host told me I was exceeding the weekly budget. Also there is a weekly budget for the food and supplies that the volunteers can buy, which is 10€ per week and it is not enough in my opinion. I must say that I left when we brought up the problem, idk the situation now

i explained to you exactly what u needs to do, even i have someone for that but they have their own job, u had your own job to do with different type of video, you cannot complain that, even i sent u the example of the video, but u just dont do it without any explaination. Second, the apartment that time was a bit messed up because of the volunteers, the way they lived, so people need to tell me as i told everyone on the first day. Third, we changed the budge because we are adults, can talk.

The school has a lot of various classes with students ranging from 5 to adults. You have a lot of freedom to teach the classes however you may please you receive files and books to help you prepare. You get a schedule from the get go but you should be flexible as classes do have a tendency to change. You'll meet lots of international people who are all very likeminded.

This was my first volunteer experience, I found a welcoming environment and I received support when I needed it. Despite his busy schedule, Hung is always responsive and available. The school is located about 40 minutes from the center of Hanoi, which allowed me to immerse myself even more in the local culture in a more peaceful environment. I also really enjoyed the fact that there were multiple activities we could join like hikes or vietnamise classes. The only improvement that I may suggest concerns the apartment: extra stove, kettle and more comfortable beds. Overall I had a great time!
