My experience was absolutely perfect! Everything was as agreed, and Hung was more of a friend than a boss much like Michael Scott from The Office. He organizes spot-on hikes and regularly invites us to parties, language exchanges, and meetups—it's impossible to feel bored here. Even when I had a bike accident at 3 a.m. (because why not test my luck at that hour?), he and the nice community of locals and Int'l he created went above and beyond to help ensure I was okay and sorting transportation for me. This was my first volunteering experience, and Hung made it unforgettable. Best host ever!

Volunteering with the school in Vietnam was an unforgettable experience! Over my four weeks teaching English, I found the program incredibly flexible and manageable, making it easy to balance teaching with exploring the vibrant local culture. Hung, the host, was a highlight of the experience—always accommodating and hilariously entertaining, he made every day enjoyable and ensured we felt at home. The supportive environment and the rewarding work with the students left a lasting impression on me. It's definitely an experience I would return to in a heartbeat :)

Sadly, due to the lack of hygiene, lack of organisation and communication, the experience with the school was not for me and so ultimately, along with some other volunteers, I left the volunteer position early. Just some of the issues with the position include: things that were advertised on WorldPackers (free parties, free hikes, language lessons) did not happen, the living conditions were not hygienic - with lots of ants, mouldy kitchen utensils, vomit-ridden couch, etc - and things were constantly breaking (Doors, Hot water, etc), bad communication made it difficult to do my role!

@worldpacker team, please check this case, quiet a lot of accusation here. She just wanted to do parties and just volunteering is not for her obviously. Thank you !

Thank you so much for hosting me! I really enjoyed teaching and spending time with the kids — they were amazing. I did notice a few things in the house that could use some fixing (like the AC, sink, and hot water), and it might be nice to bring back more group activities or outings like before. Overall though, it was a great experience, and I really appreciate the opportunity!

I enjoyed my stay and made some real friendships during my volunteering. Hung was a welcoming and flexible host although I think the work and schedule should be explained a bit before starting the volunteer but the hours were good. The housing situation on the other hand definitely needs renewing and real mattresses. Also it should be mentioned that we get lunch delivered every day during the week but you'll have to manage breakfast and dinner and also weekends with a weekly budget which can be tricky to maintain a healthy diet and stay on budget. Overall it was a good experience!

Overall I had a great experience with this as my first volunteer opportunity. I stayed 3 whole months and had plenty of time to travel all over Northern Vietnam on weekends and was even allowed a few extra days off to do the Ha Giang loop and visit central Vietnam. I will say the kitchen/food situation was pretty rough at times. Our microwave was broken for 2 months, we only had one stove top to cook on between 13 people, and the budget you get for groceries is only 350k VNĐ for the whole week which is about $13, so I had to spend my own money on food. There is a good sense of community!

Thank you Sirrea, you did a very good job and very good helper. But for your feedback, not really fair and complete since u just mentioned 13 usd for the grocery without mentioning that is only for dinner, since lunch is at the office and we pay for that of course, the new volunteers read it and could misunderstand it, also 350 is enough or not i think it depends on the way u use it, the other people feel ok with it, so it could be misunderstanding for all people who read it and never been here

I had a wonderful experience with capitol the school and I loved my time teaching kids. The team supports volunteers with materials. The location allowed me to immerse into Hanoi's culture and I enjoyed building relationships with the local neighbours

The experience at the school was a very nice change. You are gonna stay in a very local neighborhood and the people there are amazing and love to socialize with foreigners. About the work, I was in charge of the social media position. The position is confusional, that mainly because Hung gives you a lot of freedom on your work, it's up to you to come up with nice ideas. I would recommend this position to people that have an high personal organization and creativity. If you fill confident about it, the schedule and time are very flexible and nice, once I got my rhythm for me it was nice!
