The experience

We own a gin distillery on my families estate where we handpick botanicals and use the glens lochs water to make the gin. We run a wee cocktail pop-up bar at my sister and friends Seafood Shack and we are currently renovating a building into a bar, restaurant and moving the distillery from the glen out the back into the beer garden. We are opening at the beginning of July and need people for the final bits before opening!

What you offer

24 hours of help per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Lawrie is a Civil Engineer by trade and I'm nothing in the building word but I'm determined and love manual things (coming from a farm) so I just get stuck in. We have worked abroad for many years and I have done cultural exchanges, which have been some of my most enjoyable travelling experiences. I also grew up with cultural exchanges in my own home as a child and my cousins who live close also do it, so there is a good community of travellers that you could be in contact with. It is something that I have very much been involved in throughout my life and love the opportunity that I can now host. We are looking for people who have had some experience in the fields above, easy goin and are up for physical work.

Activities & Shift

We do 3 days a week 9am-5pm so that volunteers have time off to enjoy and explore the area.

When you do help us it will be with myself and Lawrie and we are wanting to create a fun environment to be in and share our culture and Highland way of life.

We have a two bedroom flat in the centre of the village which looks out to the sea and harbour. The flat has been completely renovated, so it is lovely and very homely. There are two bedrooms, a bathroom (with bath and shower), open kitchen living area and entrance space. This accommodation plus daily food is included for 24 hours of help per week. The building is located on the shorefront of Ullapool and the bedrooms look out to the sea so have fantastic views.
