We’re looking for organized volunteers with previous reception experience to help with reception and administrative tasks perfect for travelers seeking to disconnect, reflection a slower rhythm of life, and being part of a respectful, committed team.
What you offer

Night Shift:
Help with night shift tasks and create a relaxing environment for guests.

Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.

Fluent English or Beginner Spanish
Between 20 and 35 years old
Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details
Casa de Olas is an eco-rustic hostel located on a hill just 3 km from town San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. Surrounded by nature and ocean views, we offer basic amenities in a calm and relaxed environment, ideal for travelers seeking to disconnect, reflection, and a slower rhythm of life.
We are looking committed volunteers to assist in our reception area in a role that is primarily administrative and guest-facing. You will be responsible for managing check-ins and check-outs, handling reservations and payments, coordinating guest needs, maintaining cash flow, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. This position requires attention to detail, time discipline, and a calm, professional demeanor.
In exchange for 25 hours of work per week, we offer:
- Daily breakfast (traditional or pancakes).
- Free accommodation in a volunteers shared dorm.
- Free use of shuttles to town and nearby beaches for surfing.
- Full access to our kitchen and laundry area.
- Discount on beverages and snacks.
Shifts rotate between morning, afternoon, and evening. A minimum stay of 4 weeks is required, with possible extensions based on performance and availability.

Activities & Shift
-It is a requirement to have experience in hospitality reception or a similar role.
-Greet guests warmly and ensure a smooth check-in and check-out process.
-Provide information about hostel amenities and local attractions.
-During the shifts, the downtime, which can sometimes be quite long, should be used to update logs, ensure everything is up-to-date, check inventory, and capture photos and videos to create content for our social media.
-Address guest inquiries and resolve issues or complaints professionally.
-Sell beverages and snacks at the reception desk.
-Promote additional hostel services, such as tours, rentals, and events.
-Ensure the reception area is clean and organized.
-Create a comfortable and inviting environment for guests to relax and socialize.
-Assist with reservations and bookings as needed.
-Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and manage WhatsApp messages promptly.
Rules
-Treat all guests, fellow volunteers, and staff with kindness and respect.
-Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
-Maintain appropriate behavior and professionalism while on duty and in common areas.
-Avoid disruptive or inappropriate behavior that may affect the comfort of guests.
-The use of illegal drugs or excessive alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited on hostel premises.
-Smoking is only permitted in designated areas.
-Do not bring visitors into the hostel or guest rooms. Personal visitors are not allowed in volunteer accommodations.
-Respect designated quiet hours and avoid making loud noises, especially during late hours.
-Keep personal belongings in designated areas and ensure that common areas are tidy and clean.
-Report any damage or issues in the hostel immediately to the management.
