I really valued my time here as I learned so much more about horses and what life in the countryside could look like. I also discovered a genuine interest in horse-drawn carriage rides, which I didn't have much experience in before. You get a lot of independence, and you're trusted to manage your time and tasks on your own. If you love horses, this would be a great and rewarding experience.

It was my first volunteer experience and I couldn't be happier. The farm is surrounded by nature and you have plenty of time to explore it. Working with the horses is truly unique and a lot of fun. Øystein is very patient and always takes the time to explain everything to you. At the same time, he also trusts you a lot, which means you get to do different tasks and always learn new things. I will miss the time here and, of course, the horses very much.

I had an absolutely wonderful time with Øystein on his farm. I learned about horses and the work during my stay was very enjoyable. It's the perfect place to get back to nature and focus on personal growth. Øystein is lovely and treats the volunteers very kindly. I wholeheartedly recommend this stay! Thank you very much! 😁

I had waited and prepared to visit Norway, “mitt andre hjemland,” for countless years, and my stay with Øystein on the peaceful island of Tromøya granted me the perfect introduction to this special country. After spending two weeks on the farm during the transition from summer to autumn, I can confirm that alt var helt riktig og hyggelig. The work, which can depend on the season, was flexible and engaging, and I wish that I could have done far more during my stay. (I would also recommend bringing a good pair of rainboots.) Though brief, my experience was warm and delightful—og så mye mer.
