The Experience

Come and help rebuild an ancient stone barn. Set in the middle of the Brecon Beacons National park, the barn is full of history and requires a little love. Lessons in stone laying will be provided so previous knowledge is not critical, only a good work ethic and some positive energy.

I deeply treasure the experience I had at Collage Farm! Matty is amazing respectful, kind, honest, and easygoing. He is always willing to help you learn 🫀 During my stay, I learned a lot about sustainability. It helped me become more aware of the food I eat and how to take care of my body and mind. The site is a bit far from the nearest town (Brecon), but if you're looking for a quiet place to connect with nature, this is the right spot! Thank you, Matty, for trusting me and turning this experience into a beautiful memory.

I highly recommend volunteering here if you love nature, hiking/outdoorsy stuff, and aren't afraid to get your hands a little dirty. Matty is an amazing host who cares about his volunteers and makes sure that you are comfortable (and well fed!). The work was physical but very rewarding and I loved being outside in the garden everyday. Haggis (his sheep) was very talkative and kept me company in the garden too haha. Overall, my stay here was incredible and I'll miss the project very much. Definitely a 10/10 experience. 😌

My stay at the project was the best experience I've had traveling as a Worldpacker. Matty is a great host, an amazing person and with a great outlook on life. Everything about this volunteering is perfect for getting to know Wales, its beauty, its culture and its people. Matty was my first host being a volunteer and safe to say it did not disappoint! I had various work, met his family and friends/co workers, great food and got to see some amazing local spots. Matty has great character and I believe this to be the reason for such a positive experience. The house and location is stunning, garden is thriving, what else do you need!? I think that this would be suited to everyone, plenty of space for time to yourself and if you have an adventurous spirit you'll take a lot from here.
