The Experience

Hi, A family of 3 are renovating a beautiful house in Provence. 40 mins from idyllic Aix-en-Provence & 2kms from a lovely village with restaurants, boulangeries & supermarkets. The accommodation is a lovely peaceful gite with 2 double ensuite bedrooms. Your own kitchen, private garden & parking. For the autumn we are looking for help with housekeeping during the olive picking season. We look forward to hearing from you. Amy

Amy and Matt are very kind and attentive. The assigned tasks are related to maintaining the garden and helping around the house (housekeeping), nothing complicated, and the schedules are flexible. The house they provide is super lovely and comfortable; you have everything you need to feel at ease (kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine). The region is very beautiful and peaceful, and there's a lake nearby. The city center is just a 10-minute bike ride away. It was a very positive experience, and one I would definitely repeat.

Very cool place, the property is big and often needs very boring repetitive tasks but I think the work was fair for the exchange. I will say if you have a fear of bugs this place is NOT for you, also a VERY dusty property. Overall the hosts are super flexible and nice I would note extra that they do not provide meals and the groceries in this town are very expensive and so are the limited restaurants. If you are looking for a quiet space to clear your head this is a good space. If you want an exciting experience or a communal one I would look else where. Also the if you I enjoyed my stay!

Amy and Matt were great hosts. I enjoyed my time connecting with nature, helping with some painting, cleaning, and maintenance jobs around their beautiful farmhouse and garden, and even spent some quality time with their very cute Bichon. It is quite rural, so beware of spiders. But overall, it's a great opportunity if you're looking for an escape from the city in rural French life. There is great olive oil and wine, and the environment encourages lots of walking. If you're looking for peace and quiet, this is a great stay with quite a bit of flexibility of working hours and tasks.

I really enjoyed my time here. Amy and Matt were both lovely and friendly. They were great at giving jobs that matched your skills and what you want to be doing. For me that was outside in the gardens. The location is great, a good place to slow down and enjoy life. The town and lake were great to explore and both easily accessible by bike. The wifi got fixed on my last day there so everything is back connected.

The tasks worked very well for me and were very clear, exactly as agreed. Amy and Matt were always very nice and kind to me, and I felt comfortable and very good in the house. The property is truly beautiful, as is the location. The wind even smells like lavander and every day there is a beautiful sunset. There are nice places to go by bike to exploring the town. It's not a place to socialize but rather to enjoy your own company, and that exactly what I was looking for. They were also quite flexible with schedules. The only truly negative point is that Wi-Fi does not work where we stayed.
