I volunteered at the guest house for a month and had a really positive experience. The work was fair and easy to follow. The living space felt like home with great kitchen facilities, and the location in Kyoto was lovely. I enjoyed the routine and the overall atmosphere, and would definitely recommend this volunteering experience to other travellers!

The guest house really came to feel like home in the two months I was able to stay and volunteer there. The host and her husband, Chie and Roy, were so kind and welcoming. They worked with me to make sure I understood and felt comfortable with all of my tasks, were flexible with scheduling as needed, made sure we felt safe and happy as staff on-site and knew what to do in the event that anything made us uncomfortable, gave clear direction and communication, and had the absolute best recommendations for things to do around Kyoto. This is just a tiny summary of how amazing they are. Highly recommend!!

Chie and Roy and superb hosts, it was a great team working experience with the other staff too. The workload may take an adjustment if you aren't used to physical labor (especially if this will be your first job), but eventually everyone finds their rhythm. There's a good balance between work and free time to explore, and a nice breakfast everyday too. This is a terrific option if you want to explore Kyoto and take day trips to Shiga, Uji, Nara, and Osaka!

I had a wonderful experience at the guest house! The work (mainly housekeeping, cleaning, and reception) was super easy and fair. The place itself is sooooo beautiful, super clean, and such a comfortable environment to stay in. What made the experience truly special was Chie — she is such an amazing, hardworking, and inspirational person. I admire her deeply and look up to her a lot. She gave me the opportunity to grow, both personally and professionally, and I'm very grateful for that. I would highly recommend the guest house to anyone looking for a meaningful and enjoyable Worldpackers experience.

It's a beautiful traditional house that's perfectly located, You feel right at home here. The work tasks aren't difficult, and you have a lot of time to visit the city or the surrounding villages. Chie is adorable, very attentive, and makes sure everyone feels comfortable. I recommend ! it was a wonderful experience.
