The Experience
Help with basic hosting duties at a traditonal Japanese home in the center of Kyoto, Japan. Tasks include making a simple breakfast for guests, check-ins/check-outs, laundry, cleaning rooms, etc. Plenty of free time to enjoy all the culture, history, food and nature! Bicycles, wi-fi, laundry staff fridge and more available. This will be YOUR home too!

I had a lovely time at the guest house. The house is lovely, perfectly combining traditional features with a sense of modernity. I was there during the high season so there was always guests, which made the environment very dynamic. The work is fun, but can be tiring especially if there's many guests or if you're doing a double shift. Kyoto is a lovely city, which you will have plenty of time to enjoy! Chie is a very sweet host, she will make sure you're ok and enjoying the city.

I had a beautiful experience at Hachie! ✨Chie is very kind and hardworking, and you can really feel that reflected in the place too. It was a wonderful place to work, already beautiful on its own, with a very traditional vibe and so much peace. The work was very fair, some days were very quiet and others were busier, but I honestly enjoyed both the morning shift, preparing breakfast and cleaning, and the afternoon shift with check-ins and shopping. I genuinely liked what I was doing! Also lots of time to explore Kyoto! I hope I can return someday to relive my days there!🤍

I really loved my expérience at the guest house 's ! The hotel is traditionnal, lovely, clean, and well located in a quiet area. All the guests and the other volunteers were super nice, theres a real good atmosphere and we easily feel like at home ! The communication with Roy and Chie was fluid ! I recommand the guest house at 110% !

I volunteered at the guest house for a month and had a really positive experience. The work was fair and easy to follow. The living space felt like home with great kitchen facilities, and the location in Kyoto was lovely. I enjoyed the routine and the overall atmosphere, and would definitely recommend this volunteering experience to other travellers!

The guest house really came to feel like home in the two months I was able to stay and volunteer there. The host and her husband, Chie and Roy, were so kind and welcoming. They worked with me to make sure I understood and felt comfortable with all of my tasks, were flexible with scheduling as needed, made sure we felt safe and happy as staff on-site and knew what to do in the event that anything made us uncomfortable, gave clear direction and communication, and had the absolute best recommendations for things to do around Kyoto. This is just a tiny summary of how amazing they are. Highly recommend!!
