Description
We are a dedicated animal sanctuary run entirely by full-time volunteers. As a non-profit organisation, we rely on donations to sustain our mission of rescuing and caring for animals. While every contribution directly supports the animals, we ask volunteers for a contribution to cover their own food and supplies during their stay. This helps us keep our resources focused on giving the animals the love and care they deserve.

The Experience
We are a vegan animal sanctuary in Coimbra, dedicated to rescuing and caring for abandoned and abused farm animals. Our sanctuary is home to many wonderful souls, and during your stay, you'll have the chance to meet them all! π· π΄ πΆ π π± Each day, you'll connect with the animals, learn about their unique personalities, and enjoy plenty of cuddles with those who seek it. π

This was the most incredible experience. From the second we landed into the town we were treated so well and looked after with such respect and care! Chiara is one of the most amazing people you will meet. The work is great you get to feed and clean 2 times per day with a lovely break off in the middle! The accommodation was so nice and it really felt like a home away from home! You're also only 1.5 hours from Porto and a 10 minute uber into Coimbra! The work they do is incredible and the animals are so lucky to have them! Miss ye all already!!!

Chiara, Sharna, and Sandra are all passionate individuals and a pleasure to work with. The eco-conscious team is always looking for better ways to improve and is proactive in their projects. I had a great time learning about the pigs, goats, chickens, cats, donkeys, and dogs, and hearing their individual stories. The animals' routines, including feeding and cleaning, were well thought-out. We stayed in a self-contained accommodation that had all the essentials and the house was very comfortable. I also thoroughly enjoyed the abundance of healthy and sustainable food! Overall great experience.

The shelter is a small project led by very big hearts. Everyone is involved a 100% and devotes their time to the well-being of the animals. Whatever time is left, they use it to make sure that the volunteers feel welcomed and taken care of. I encourage everyone to try this experience; even if it's your first one, you won't regret it. It's the kind of place you'll want to come back to ;)

Chiara and the team at the shelter were all very welcoming and helpful. I feel like I learnt a lot during my time here. The work is very reasonable yet fulfilling. The accommodation was great, and the daily lunch together was always so nice. I would absolutely recommend this experience - it is a wonderful project to be a part of!

This has truly been one of the greatest experiences ever! Chiara and Ale are amazing hosts, and I felt very welcomed from beginning to end of my stay. Getting to work with the team has been amazing, such kind people who really care about what they do and dedicate themselves to it. The animals are just so sweet and you'll want to spend all day with them. The work that goes on at the shelter is really important, and I'm so happy that I got to be a part of that for a short while. I hope I can return sometime soon!
