I would recommend going to the hostel! It's a very exclusive, remote spot. One of a kind, beautiful. My one recommendation is rent a 4x4 car or don't drive yourself.

My experience at the hostel was wonderful :) This was my first Worldpackers trip and everything I wanted. The property is so beautiful with many different animals and waterfalls. There's ziplining and hiking trails, as well as guided night walks. The host provides food that you prepare for yourself in the kitchen. This hostel is very isolated and is about 25 minutes up and down the mountain. You will need to pay for a motorcycle or car ride up and down from one of the family members. You get locked in your room around 9pm which was okay with me, but I can see how some people wouldn't like that.

The staff was wonderful and very helpful during our stay. I will say to make sure you are at least intermediate Spanish and beyond, not just beginner, as most of the staff only speaks Spanish. I worked at the reception desk, showed guests their rooms and helped them book tours. I also helped to serve their meals. It was all easy yet fun work. the hostel was in a beautiful spot with a nearby waterfall and amazing views. Be aware it is also very remote. There's a long, windy, bumpy road to get to the top that I did struggle with a bit in my vehicle. Overall, it was a great experience!

Overall a beautiful place. Met other worldpackers who made the experience 10x better. John and Joseph were a great help during my stay as well. Pros: -beautiful nature and hostel -3 waterfalls nearby -free food to cook -zip line Cons: -there were new rules set upon arrival -curfew which consisted of being locked in room around 9 -additional fees of going up and down mountain that wasn't discussed beforehand (30mins from town, $10 to go up and $10 to go down) -very secluded (great if you like that)

The hostel is a beautiful location with lovely mountain view's, isolated & surrounded by nature (many animals & waterfalls). The hostel itself is super cool n made of entirely of wood. The work was as described - cleaning hotel rooms & doing yard work. Breakfast & Dinner was provided on weekends n then some food was given to make food on other days. Only thing to keep in mind is getting up and down the hill to the Hotel is mainly done on bikes and each trip will cost you. However it's close to the bus stop of Horquetas for day trips on your days off. Good experience!
