The Experience

We are a local couple living in Barra de Pacuare in Caribbean coast, between sea, jungle and river. Our place have a garden, animals, and a small grocery store. We also host. We are surrounded by volunteering projects (sea turtles, manatees), so we meet international people. We want to develop on a sustainable way and be part of biodiversity protection. We have a coconut farm. March to July is sea turtle season! We need help for the kitchen.

Patri is an extraordinary person. Running An Entire Business Houses Etc. on Gasoline and Batteries! A Comfortable Remote Place With Many Thing to keep busy. The Pets & Animals are Awesome. The Neighbors & Workers All Very Respectful!. The Water Taxi is Awesome! I Would do it Again!

My first volunteering – and it was amazing! Patrizia is kind, flexible, and cooks great food. Tasks like making coconut fruit leather are simple, weather-dependent, and she adapts to your energy. Evenings were full of good vibes – small parties, great talks, and laughs with other volunteers. The place is peaceful and full of nature. Lots of animals around, lovely locals, and plenty of time to rest or read. A warm, authentic experience I'll never forget!

My experience was amazing!! Patricia was super welcoming and fun. She's also an amazing cook. We played games with her as well as with the other volunteers. Tried several new fruits and vegetables which was great. The volunteer work itself was super interesting and rewarding. Each day you had a night patrol of 4hrs (starting hour varied each day) with at least one other person. There were also shifts in the hatchery but you didn't have them everyday. Patricia also has some very cute dogs and cats which were massive plus! All in all an amazing experience!!

My partner and I had a wonderful first volunteering experience with Patricia and everyone there working to protect the turtles. We felt very cared for by Patricia, not only by her great cooking but also by being a genuinely nice and funny person. The boat ride to her place was like in a fairy tale. With the beach only being a few meters out of her door, it was a beautiful place to call home for a few days. The cats and dogs who were very friendly and loving only contributed to this :'). You get to combine contributing to a great cause with plenty of free time. Very worth it!

I loved staying with Patricia, she is such a lovely person and she made me feel so welcome staying with her even though this was out of my comfort zone. It's nice that you have the accommodation not attached to the house so you can have some alone time as well. The food I was given was delicious, good portions and well balanced which is needed after doing 10k beach walks. This experience isn't the same as the actual LAST experience but you get to meet everyone who is staying there and they are super welcoming as well so I never felt like I was missing out.
