I loved my time at the host. I really felt like I was making a difference in the babies lives. It was so rewarding and heart warming building relationships with everyone including the locals in the home. I've made friendships for life through other volunteers and I cannot recommend this opportunity enough to anyone looking to volunteer in the host!

All in all I had a very good experience. The people that work there were very friendly and welcoming. I was able to participate in the way I felt was right (which was basically the same way the staff were working). The Babys were so cute. The staff definitely are doing the best they can. Of course there are things that need improvement but nothing were I would say it's needs direct change. Everything where I saw the need of improvement I passed on to Lucy who appreciated my feedback and wants to implement the things :) I can definitely recommend this volunteer job!

My sister and I had a good experience volunteering here. The children are the sweetest ever and it was so nice once they got used to us being there. We were expecting to do more but rules in the host changed and it was more planning small activities and playing with them which was fine! A favourite for the children was sensory play. The staff were friendly to us and we had some some great chats, sometimes they might seem like they don't want to talk however it is understandable there are a lot of visitors everyday best thing to do is make the effort to talk to them! Overall we enjoyed 🫶🏾

Volunteering at the host was an incredible experience. The children are adorable and full of life, and I loved spending time with them. My tasks mostly included playing with the children, creating new activites, organize and clean the playing area… The team is dedicated and does an incredible job caring for the kids. I recommend this experience to anyone who wants to help and being surrounded by lovely humans.

It was difficult because what we was expected times with helping the children were completely different, no fault to Lucy. I think it's difficult with communication and being appreciated for what time and money we've given up but I wouldn't change my experience with the children. Lucy tried her best to have our back.

A challenging and emotional experience that deeply changed my perspective of life. Working 3 days a week allows you to create a deep relationship with the children and help the orphanege; at the same time travel, explore the host and the nearby island. It's also a change to meet other people that can become your travel partner and friends. Sometimes communication and collaboration with the local workers is difficult, but Lucy was a huge help and mediator. She always gives you the best perspective and encouraged me to stay positive. Find a kind connection with the locals it's the key!

Volunteering here was a deeply touching experience, connecting with the kids was truly rewarding💙 It's an eye-opening opportunity to witness realities we often overlook and to offer genuine support to those who need it. However, it's important to come with an open mind and realistic expectations, as not everything is as rosy as it may seem. Still, a valuable experience for those wanting to make a difference 💜

I have spent the last month volunteering in the host and have enjoyed getting to know all the children. Not an easy project as the children know nothing but the four walls of the orphanage and what we can provide for them! Volunteering here is for the children, the staff aren't always welcoming but they can be lovely!

The concept and idea behind volunteering at the host is good. However I feel like there is a lot of room for improvement. Showing up there I didnt't really feel welcomed or needed as the children are already cared for 24/7. you get to take some of the kids for playtime which is nice. But you never truly connect with them as picking them up and comforting them is prohibited. There is a genuine lack of autonomy and you feel like the staff is working against you a lot. There is also tons of people just randomly showing up to see the children play and what not which is also bizarre.

I was a good experience overall, here are a few key points : - it's a bit frustrating not to be able to really bond with the children (we are not allowed to carry or cuddle them) and I do think they lack affection, which sometimes made me really sad. - there is often a « zoo like » atmosphere as many visitors come all the time and take videos and pictures of the children (and obviously volunteers) that are here. But ANYWAY. I noticed this the first week and chose to stay as I would give what I could, my energy, my sunshine and smiles and anything they would give me :)
