This experience was very meaningful and relaxing! I spent one week here and wish I would've stayed longer. The staff are welcoming and lighthearted. Robbie shared countless information about the local flora and fauna and is such a wonderful teacher. Each day has a written schedule with about 2 activities each day lasting about an hour to two hours. This consisted of raking and cleaning paths mainly. Outside of that you have the entire day to do what you want, you can go to the beach, talk with others, read, etc. I didn't get to see any turtles unfortunately but we saw countless other animals!

THIS PROJECT WAS A LIFE-CHANGING EXPERIENCE AND ONE OF THE RICHEST I'VE EVER HAD. I connected deeply with nature and animals, touching a cayman, seeing sloths, and many exotic birds. I met animals I'd never seen before!!!!!! The team is loving and dedicated, especially the biologist, a truly brilliant expert, who knows everything about the region's fauna and flora. The project has a special soul and unique atmosphere. Many volunteers stay longer than planned because it's truly amazing. I highly recommend this host and can't wait to return and continue learning and contributing.

I really loved all the people there! Everyone was so nice and friendly, especially Robbie and Noemi! They really went out their way by helping with planning transportation to my next destination, have really good leadership skills and told us a lot about the flora and fauna at the shelter! All the volunteers were so nice and it was always fun, even when we were cleaning the jungle path or the general cleaning haha :)

Everyone at the camp is very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Luis communicated efficiently and made our preparation for arrival seamless. Noemi welcomed us at the dock and showed us around, made sure we were comfortable and at ease. Robbi is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the surrounding animals, flora, and he shared so much valuable information with us, making me feel like we really learned a lot about the nature in Costa Rica.

This was such a special place and experience. I was only supposed to stay a week but I ended up staying two and I wish I could have stayed longer. I immediately felt so at home. It is a remote camp, and you should expect pretty basic amenities/being surrounded by nature. I learned so much during my time here and the work felt rewarding(even though I did not see a turtle due to weather). I even got to travel to other parts of Costa Rica with fellow volunteers. Thank you Robbie, Daniel and Ara and all my volunteer friends!! I loved this and I highly recommend. Message me with questions!!

I LOVED volunteering here. Know that the turtles don't arrive on our schedule, so if you're at the beginning of the season you might not see them. Despite not seeing the turtles (my main reason for coming) I am pleasantly surprised to report I had a really wonderful & gorgeous time anyway. Being at the camp, you are so connected to nature and soon fall into a rhythm with it. Working with your body for something important really helped change my mental state from the stress and anxiety I normally have at home. Be ready for lots of rice and beans and downtime. Be open and you will enjoy this.

Although I was there during the off season and did not get to work with turtles, I still had a great time! Thank you to Luis, Ara, and Daniel :)

Tortugas de the shelter is such a peaceful & beautiful place. At camp there's around one activity a day, plus cleaning activities (done everyday). It's also secluded so it's almost impossible to explore anything but the tiny town, jungle, wildlife & beach going along the shelter. I would definitely recommend doing research on turtle's & their hatching cycles before applying & staying around 2-4 weeks depending on the month. Making friends is essential to an amazing stay & getting to know people is so easy because of how kind everyone is! Private transports available but no set/organized yoga classes.

I want to stress that the staff was wonderful and welcoming, especially Robbie, and really did their best to make everyone enjoy the stay. The talks, tours and workshops were great, however the experience was a little different than I expected. Since the camp's beach was destroyed by hurricane, no turtles nest there at the moment. This seemed to be common knowledge but was not communicated despite us asking about tasks beforehand. It felt like the focus is tourism over the cause itself, as it is promoted to big travel groups and influencers. I didn't feel like I made a difference being there.
