The Experience

We live in a small village in a charming beautiful big old 18th century house named Villa des Roses with a tower, congiergerie, orangerie, pigeonnaire, cabin in the woods, a big ecological style garden, vegetable patches and a forest with pathways on 20.000m2 of our own.

My experience was incredible. Anouk has a lovely family and adorable animals. She is an amazing person, very polite, kind, and understanding, genuinely interested in offering a cultural exchange for volunteers and her family. She was always attentive to everything I needed and helped me in the best way she could. The tasks included gardening, cleaning, walking the dogs, and cooking. I always had a lot of flexibility and the opportunity to use the weekends to travel around the Netherlands and to Brussels. Thank you so much for everything, I hope to stay in touch for future opportunities.

I had such a great time with Anouk and her family. It was my first experience with worldpackers and I will never forget. The place is beautiful and I had the chance to know another cities while I was there. I will miss forever the dogs 😭 Miski Miski and Binki. I hope someday I can have the chance to meet the family again .

Anouk is an excellent host. She and her family welcomed me very well. They are respectful and loving. I helped with household chores, walking the animals and taking their children to school. Work is quiet. Also had a room only for myself. Ah, Anouk still cooks very well. I just have to get over the time I spent with them. The place where they live is beautiful and of an incredible peace. I have a great affection for the family, especially for Anouk. Gratitude 🙏🏻

Anouk's house, family and dogs are an absolute gem, I had an amazing time there and since it was my first volunteering experience after a harsh time, it was even more meaningful. I immediately felt part of the family and it helped me get settled and understand the ways of the house and the daily tasks. Everybody was respectful and tolerant, and my stay was wonderful because they respected my autonomy and trusted me from the get-go. I would recommend this for anyone who wants to live an experience sort of 'off-grid' but still wants to immerse in local culture and learn lots! Thank you!!

I stayed and worked here and in another house of this family for 36 days. The scale of the context here gave me the chance to perform in 3 projects. One of them was the philosophical transformation of space. Another one, creating a website for a very unique collection based on photography. And the biggest one was making about 500 photo images of the interior for the future catalog. Very special people. And an amazing experience.
