Hours were mostly respected, we only had to negotiate the schedule once because they wanted to put me and my partner on separate hours, but we came to an agreement. Work was simple but depending on the demand, it could get tiring. The other volunteers were really helpful and were fun to get along. The dorm was OK, the beds are on the floor and you get some privacy with curtains around it, but there are no doors on the floor, so it can get noisy. The kitchen could have basic kitchen needs for the volunteers. The hostel is close to the metro so it's easy to get to Porto city centre

It was a really nice experience. The work was just as easygoing as described here, sometimes we even finished earlier than expected. At some point, they asked us to work different hours than what was originally agreed, but they were open to negotiating and finding a deal that worked for both sides. Other than that, we never had any issues with the staff, and over the weeks, we built a good relationship with them! The room we stayed in really didn't have a door, but we still had some privacy with the curtains around beds. Overall, I'd recommend this experience.

At the hostel, I had the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. What's more, the hostel is very close to the metro station, the Porto city park, the center of Matosinhos and the beach. You can do everything on foot in the area. The work can sometimes be tiring, but more so because of the stairs in the house. Other than that, it's a great learning experience. And for those who like it, like me, it's possible to get to know Portuguese culture very well, including the cuisine, art and popular festivals.

If you re looking for a place to get out of your comfort zone, practice adaptation and determination and find yourself in alterity, the hostel is the place where you can find yours. All the people working there are amazingly special, and the hostel, a concentrate of humanity. As for me, I found a Home and a Family. Matosinhos is all at the same time vibrant, calm, comfy and you will have time to enjoy it. I higly recommend this position and experience.

My experience at the hostel was a very fulfilling one. I had an amazing warm experience here and made lifelong friends. Hours were respected and a super comfortable sleeping arrangement. Marcia specifically created a very warm environment. The tasks were easy. If you're looking for a party hostel then not the place for you. Kitchen was clean but could have more equipment.

This was my first worldpackers experience and it was really good! Work hours were respected. Tasks were simple but could get boring. The work was simple, but was still physically demanding. The team dorm was good, because it was at the top floor of the building so there was privacy from the guests. Everyone also had curtains around their bed. The only problem with the dorm, was that there is no door, so you can hear all the noise from the guests area. All the other volunteers or workers were nice! The location is good because it's really close to the metro and the beach!

The tasks are easy and always finish before the set time, volunteers are entitled to breakfast at the hostel, we can use the bicycle and the surfboard, the hostel has a good structure and the hosts are very flexible!

My experience at the hostel was disappointing. At first, I received a warm welcome, and there were a few attempts to create a social atmosphere, though very few. The work is physically demanding, and recognition is almost nonexistent. The organizers promote competition and speak negatively about other volunteers behind their backs, which affects the work environment. They seek people who will work 5 hours for free in exchange for a bed in a dormitory without a door. While there were some positive aspects, if you're looking for a human/enriching experience, this might not be what you're seeking

I stayed in the hostel for a month this July. The hostel is well situated, close to the beach and with everything within reach. The hostel unfortunately has no hostel vibes with little to no travellers staying there. The kitchen was also poorly equipped, however I think the hostel staff are well aware and they are working on improvements. I really liked the sleeping area for volunteers and overall really chill vibe in the hostel. The tasks are simple and usually consist of ironing, cleaning the bathrooms, mopping. Special thanks to all the volunteers and Marcia for makin me feel home.
