The Experience

Savitaipale is a beautiful, hospitable little town in between the lakes Saimaa and Kuolimo. It is well known for its various sports facilities (gym, pool, ice hockey, ice skating, curling, volleyball, tennis, horse riding, etc).Occasionally, we take our helpers to our cottage. The cottage is in a beautiful location near a lake with almost nobody around and where you can enjoy Finnish nature. From September to April, volunteers will need headlamps

I spent 10 days in Savitaipale. The town is beautiful and the place is comfortable. Sofia and the other people there were very nice. The activities are simple, and you can adjust your schedule to have more free time if you need it. I recommend it if you're looking for a peaceful experience

The flat is big and everything that you need, the house is warm despite the freeze temperatures outside Ahmed, the assistant, is a so kind person, it's rare to meet a similar kindness and he will not give you problem The other workers/people that I met there are very nice person as well Sofia (the the host) is a sincerely and nice person and she is open to teach you the Finnish culture, it was so interesting (thanks) This place is perfect if you are traveling to discover the real side of the country, there you can meet a lot of local people

Kanji has been an incredible asset. He's dedicated, approachable, and always ready to step in when needed. His efforts in keeping everything running smoothly have made a huge difference. We truly value all he's done to help, and hope to meet him again.. Take care and best of luck. Other hosts will be lucky to have you.

I sincerely thank Sofia from the bottom of my heart for everything. I spent wonderful days surrounded by the snow I had missed so much and immersed in Finnish end-of-year traditions. The warmth of the hospitality, the charm of the local culture, and the breathtaking landscapes made this experience truly unforgettable. I hope to return to Savitaipale someday, as the surrounding nature has truly stolen my heart.

I spent 2 weeks in Savitaipale, and the area is beautiful. If you love hiking, this place is for you, as there isn't much else to do in this village. The work is simple and easy to understand, 25 hours a week, but it's flexible. There is separate accommodation for volunteers, and while cleanliness depends on us, it's perfectly equipped. I recommend it if you want to be close to nature and meet volunteers from different parts of the world!
