The Experience

We run the Centre of Resilience, a very grassroots, community led skills, innovation and climate resilience research centre that strives to create pathways to resilient livelihood, sustainable living and inclusive wellbeing for the people of Bihar, India, while developing models and practices to share globally. And sometimes we just need help taking care of our 2 year baby boy Prakrit, with cooking, and keeping the house cosy. :)

I couldn't ask for a more local experience than this. I was very well received by Prashant's family in the home and all the local people in Ara. I helped by renovating, giving maintenance, cleaning and organizing some spaces at the home. I got to know the floating house project, which seems to have a very bright future in terms of adapting to climate change and social help. In conclusion, if you want to help, get to know the real India, and create a change, this is the place. I came in as a foreigner and left in love of this culture a as a local.

Thank you Adrian for being such a flexible and committed volunteer and part of our work in Bihar to create pathways to more sustainable, accessible living. Yes, Pintu has been with us since he was about 6 years old. He comes from a local family and has grown up in poverty. He is still learning many things, including how to be less "budmushi" (naughty, in Hindi)! Thank you for your patience, also with Prashant being on the road as he prepared for his trip to the UK. Next time we will both be there to work with you brother!

My experience was one of a kind, I lived in nature by a temple and i lived a simple life for a whole month, Showering and going to bathroom in nature, Drinking nature's water and enjoying and feeling connected with nature along the way. Prashant the manager the home project and all the works was way to friendly, they made me feel like home, and i got to meet a lot of nice villagers and i had actually lived and experienced the local life, doing prayers with the people. I'd recommend this project to anyone that want to experience the local indian life and live nature while doing so.

It was truly a wonderful experience, from the moment I walked in, Their genuine passion for their work and dedication to helping others really shone through in everything they did. I cannot stress enough how much of a positive impact my visit is to the home had on me. Not only did I leave feeling inspired and motivated, but I also gained valuable insights and tools that I can apply in my personal and professional life. I am already looking forward to visiting again in the future. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking personal or professional development.
