Teach English & Live Like a local in Chaing mai, Thailand

BBD Round 3... It's always a pleasure to be here and teach English to students from all over Thailand and of all ages. With some we even built some beautiful friendship. It's just regrettable to hear some young volunteers always complaining about everything, being rude and disrespectful creating closed and a selective group raising a feeling of discomfort. I knew this place with better people and had really fun with them. Depending who you will be volunteering with this place can be really amazing and live a wonderful experience. Paweena will always welcome you with a smile and a big ❤️🎉

My experience at Homestay Chiang Mai was truly enriching. From day one, I felt welcomed and supported. The onboarding was clear, and everything was very well organized—schedules, rules, resources, and teaching materials. The house is beautiful and spacious, with plenty of areas to work and relax. My shared room was clean and quiet, with AC and a fan. The internet was excellent for teaching, and having access to laundry was a big plus. We received two delicious meals, Classes started around 3–4 PM, leaving mornings free. Overall, the experience was organized, peaceful, and very rewarding.

Oh my gosh, I loved it! The people were kind, the food was delicious, and the site was beautiful. I especially loved the students — I taught ages 6 to 60! Some became my besties, and some were little menaces (in a fun way). You'll spend most of your time outdoors, so get ready to embrace nature. The village is about 40 minutes from Chiang Mai, so downtime usually means a 7/11 walk or local market trip. You'll make your own lessons — I recommend using Engoo for ideas. Bring bug spray and your sense of humor! If you want meaningful connections and peaceful vibes, this is the place!

It's a very nice, comfortable place to work. There's plenty of space, and they even lend out laptops to do work, which is very easy and makes the time go by quickly. The food is very good, and they make sure you're always comfortable. They even put up mosquito repellent panels at certain times while you're teaching. There's a cafe, bar, and pizzeria right next door. There are also places to eat nearby, and a 7/11 is a 15-minute walk away. It's not close to Chiang Mai but with two and a half days free you have plenty of time to explore. All staff is amazing, helpful and kind. Thanks a lot

The other travellers were welcoming, adventurous and kind. Staff were friendly, respectful and managed to assist whenever needed. Teaching the lessons was great fun and you get a lot of free time during the day to explore Chiang Mai area. The home stay isn't in the city centre please note. I used a rented motorcycle and it was perfect distance.

This is a solid Worldpackers stay in the nature of Mae Wong. If you are looking for an out of the way stay in northern Thailand, this is a solid choice. The schedule can be somewhat rigid, 5 nights a week roughly on call from 3:00-9:30. (Usually around 4-6 classes a day.) But if you are okay being away from the city, enjoy online interactions and fun with other volunteers it's good for that. We had fun and shared culture. The food is tasty aswell, 2x a day. We went to 7-11 every day basically, around 13 min walk away. I recommend a 1-4 week stay here :)

It turned out to be one of the best experiences of my life. I was fortunate to be surrounded by an incredible group of friends—Siah, Faith, Charles, Naman, CC, Javier, Marcus and Emily—who made every moment unforgettable. Whether we were working together or exploring the city, we shared laughter, meaningful conversations, and created memories that I'll always cherish. The experience not only allowed me to give back but also connected me with amazing people from around the world.

I really enjoyed this volunteering experience - the hosts and staff were very accommodating and friendly and it was a great place to meet other travellers. The work itself was reasonably straightforward and the school gave us plenty of resources to assist with planning the lessons. The students were great to teach and it was nice to meet and get to know students from all over Thailand.

Volunteering as an English teacher was such a fulfilling experience. I got to connect with amazing students, watch their confidence grow, and feel like I was really making a difference, even in small ways. It taught me a lot about patience, creativity, and the joy of helping others learn something new. The people I worked with were kind and supportive, and the whole experience reminded me why I love language and education. I'm genuinely grateful for the opportunity — it's something I'll carry with me always.
