Help around an Alpine Lodge in the Austrian Alps

This was my first worldpackers experience, and it absolutely didn't disappoint. You're staying with a Nepalese family (and Sylvia<3) that abounds in warmth and hospitality, so even though you're in Austria you get to know Nepalese Sherpa culture and food, which is SO tasty. The location is phenomenally gorgeous and has a lot to offer. Just be aware that it's quite isolated, so it's good to have your own activities for free time, like me: studying languages. Everything here is very peaceful and slow pace. The tasks were very easy and if you're eager to help, the experience is perfect!

The guest house is a really beautuful place and the skiing is really fun. It is newly run by a lovely Nepalese family. They showed me some Nepalese and Austrian cuisine and the time in the kitchen was great. I also really enjoyed working at the bar and serving guest. Yet I wouldn't recommend coming in a quiet month like january if you are looking for a social experience. There were barely any guests or work and I was the only volunteer there so I started feeling quite lonely. I ended up leaving early because of that, yet that wasn't the hosts fault and I could see it being great in a busier time

I had a great time at the guest house with my girlfriend. It's a holiday basically. The shifts are easy and last only 5 hours or less so you have a lot of free time to explore the beautiful surroundings. But I wouldn't recommend it to a non-hiker. You should love hiking and the mountains. There is additional equipment you can borrow for free (such as ferrata set or hiking poles). The food was really good and the staff were friendly and welcoming. One detail for couples: if you want free time together, tell them in advance. The superiors (Andrea and Frank) are helpful and willing to meet you halfway.

Beautiful two weeks of my life. Work was easy, sleeping conditions 9/10, food usually unhealthy but tasty. The area around the hotel is perfect for hiking and climbing feratas for which you can borrow equipment for free. Cable car was 42 EUR up and down but you can walk from Obertraun and save money if you're a good hiker and don't take too much stuff with you. Other volunteers and workers were fun and kind and great people to be around. Very nice experience overall, I think you will like it :)

Our experience at the guest house was sensational! We went there as a couple and these two weeks were full of breathtaking views, hikes, delicious food, memorable experiences, and meeting inspiring people from all over the world. Plus we had the opportunity to go to the sauna a couple of times:) The number of hours you work depends on how much busy the day is. However, it is never more, sometimes less. Even though you sleep in a shared dorm, you still have a lot of privacy. I couldn't recommend this place more! Thank you for all the unforgettable moments:)

I loved my time at Gjad the guest house and felt very welcomed from the moment I arrived. It was a real teamwork environment and there was a good variety in the jobs. The food was amazing and the family styled dinners were a lot of fun. This is an ideal spot for anyone looking to spend quiet time in nature or hike the Alps. It was a great first Worldpackers experience! Thanks Frank & Andrea ☺️⭐️

This volunteering at the guest house was amazing: I will miss the beautiful hikes there, the true friends I made and the familial atmosphere! You have a lot of free time and the work is nice and done with other volunteers. It was 3 very ressourcing and happy weeks for me, eating good food, sleeping well, having time to read and living in a friendly environment. I would recommend this experience to everyone, especially to those who like the mountains and meeting new people :))) Thank you!
