The Experience

It was an incredibly wonderful experience for me to spend the week with my family in the middle of nature. I had no network, no city nearby, no alcohol and no cigarettes, and I wanted for nothing. The family is very helpful and welcoming, they went out of their way to make me feel at home. Finally, I was able to take part in a ceremony and that was the crowning glory. I took everyone to my heart in no time at all. Many thanks to the Aldeia Tekoa. Bukuia!

This experience was not as described. There was no effort for us to work with nor learn about the land and its practices. The space seemed entirely dedicated to sacred medicine ceremonies, which we respect very much, however we weren't informed until we arrived. We felt a lot of pressure to participate. The host had an emergency and we were unable to meet them, which was likely the reason for the miscommunication and disorganization. We recommend asking about specific projects and tasks. 1 person may have been from the local community & rest were non-Native “volunteers”.
