The Experience

We intend to make our space a center for visits to animals of various species. Nature and recreational activities with people of all ages. 5km from Vila dos arcos de Valdevez, in the parish of Vale, this project that started in 2017 with the production of snails, is currently being transformed into organic vegetable production, where we also have an expanding pedagogical farm, sheep, ducks, chickens and pigs, with 1ha.

This was an amazing volunteer experience for me, and I would absolutely come back. Monica made me feel welcomed even before I arrived. She genuinely cared about my well-being, was always checking in to see if I needed anything, and invited me to social events. The work was hard, but we did most of it together, which made it fun. She taught me so many different things. I felt that she truly values the help of volunteers and is always respectful and kind. I especially loved the caravan, it was so cute! I would have dinner while watching the sheep walk around. In sum, I loved being there!

Mónica made me feel welcome since the begining, as she was open to move our start date several times. She was always making sure I was confortable, and I find this important and valuable. The work in the farm was fun, I enjoyed a lot harvesting potatos, pumpkins, watermelons, tomatoes and more. I also learned a lot by watching her, she's such a strong and powerful woman! Thank you for everything ✨

This was an amazing experience for my first time as a volunteer. Is a great place to meet people from all Europe, practicing some portuguese and english. Monica has so much to teach and is a very good host, she cooks amazing traditional portuguese food and is always looking after there's nothing missing.

Monica was a caring host, she always asked if we need anything. She is super hard working and very busy as her farm needs her. The work on the farm was is hard but fair. We started at 8am and finished at 1pm and we were never asked to carry on after our hours. The accommodation and bathroom was simple but functional. The caravan is by my opinion suitable more for a single person. maybe a couple if both people are not too tall. All the work was worth while as we could have the best veggies ever and as much of it as we were able to eat. Monica spoke good English.

Foi uma experiência incrível! Estar em contato com os animais, num lugar tão lindo, tendo meu próprio espaço e momentos de reflexão! Monica foi uma host incrível, super preocupada com o meu bem estar, provendo alimentação e incentivando a exploração ao redor… eu certamente quero voltar, e recomendo para quem não tem preguiça de trabalho e fica bem “longe” do centro da cidade.
