The Experience

Casa Traditionala Ardeleana is an old house which can accomodate 20 people. It has a large, beautiful yard with lawn, flowers, fruit trees. The house is decorated in a traditional way with objects and furniture that we inherited from our grandparents. We need volunteers to help us with cleaning, changing bed-clothes, washing, small repairs. They don't need special qualifications. They will have the opportunity to enlarge their cultural horizon.

Our experience here was truly unique! We had the opportunity to discover a little corner in the heart of Romania and meet people we'll carry in our hearts forever. Gheorghe and Adelina are such a special couple — they welcomed us with kindness, shared abundant meals, and even took us to explore the region. We were happy to contribute with different tasks at the guesthouse, and it was always done in a warm and supportive atmosphere. Since it's a guesthouse in the countryside, there's always plenty of work to be done, but it was a pleasure to help. Thank you for this unforgettable experience!

Volunteering at the guest house was an amazing experience. The work was cleaning and organizing the 7 rooms and the bungalow in a rural area, which requires dedication. Gheorghe, the 75-year-old owner, is very kind, always willing to help, and even took us to visit the mountains and the city. His wife Adelina is lovely and makes the best soups we have ever had. They welcomed us like family, I felt at home and they became my parents in Romania. I left with a full heart and hope to meet them again.

My experience at the guest house was absolutely amazing. The place is surrounded by nature, animals, and friendly neighbors. From the very first moment, I felt welcomed. Gheorghe and Adelina are wonderful people it was a pleasure to meet them and spend time together. They made me feel at home, and we shared beautiful moments. I learned about Romanian culture and even took part in some festivities, thanks to them. the guest house is a serene and beautiful place, perfect for connecting with nature. My first week at Casa was a bit disappointing because the agreements weren't respected. I greatly thank the hosts for arranging other opportunities for me. I also thank Adelina for going out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and accommodated for. However, my last week at casa was very enjoyable largely thanks to my hosts and fellow volunteers.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience at Casa Tradicional and had to leave early. Adelina was very kind, caring, and welcoming. It was a pleasure to meet her. However, Gheorghe did not treat me with respect. On my second day, I became very ill (vomiting multiple times, high fever, etc.). Despite my state, Gheorghe pressured me to work the next day. He entered my room without knocking, dismissed my illness, and called me weak and lazy, among other things. After this, we agreed it would be best for both sides if I left and returned somewhere I could properly rest and recover.
