My experience was truly enriching. Both the hostel and the hostel are beautiful hostels, with the hostel holding a special charm and a fantastic location. During my volunteer work, I had the chance to meet other volunteers from different countries, as well as the guests staying at the hostel. It's a place where I found a lot of peace, and it was a pleasure to be part of the hostel team—getting to know its story and living it alongside them. Bacalar is stunning, and the lagoon is just breathtaking. I'm grateful to Christian for giving me the opportunity to collaborate at his hostel and for

The experience was ok, just be aware that the experience you sign up is what you came here to do. Me and the host spoke about me doing the night reception for 3 days and 4 days free. The day I show up they told I was doing the cleaning for 5 days and only 2 days free, I was already here so I accepted. Some days the cleaning is light and some days the cleaning is a lot for only one person, they don't have anybody else doing the cleaning but one volunteer. Besides this bacalar is a very nice place to come and all the volunteers were great, we all got along and had fun.

I spent 2 weeks in Bacalar and it's a lovely little the hostel! Work is easy, there is little training but they are always there to help you, Alex was a big help for me. I was worried as I don't know Spanish but it wasn't a problem at all but with other volunteers there is sometimes a language barrier. Volunteer room and bicycle situation could use some improvements. Breakfast is basic and there is usually something missing like either fruit and/or yogurt. Free SUP tour was a great addition! Overall, it was a good experience, you will have lots of free time.

I really enjoyed my time in Bacalar! The schedule of three 8 hour shifts a week (3-11pm) was great and allowed me a lot of free time to go do things. The receptionist responsibilities were easy but definitely required a bit of improvising since there's not much training. When I arrived the volunteer room was having a lot of issues so the accommodations weren't up to a good standard, but they were working on it when I left. You could work at either of their hostels but you only stay in one, be prepared for the 25 minute walk if you're assigned to work in the hostel you're not staying at.

My volunteer experience was generally positive. The hosts were kind, although they were often busy. While there wasn't much opportunity for cultural exchange or social activity, the work was manageable, and the flexibility allowed me to pursue my freelance work. Despite some challenges with cleanliness in the volunteer dorm and lack of group activities, the overall experience was rewarding, especially with the hospitality of the hosts. We were offered one free paddle board tour, which was lovely. Thank you for everything!

It was just an amazing time at the hostel! Chris and Sil, the managers, are fantastic people, always looking after you and helping to make you live your best time. The work is super fair and the shift at reception is never too hard. You can have a lot of free time to enjoy Bacalar, a magic place with artistic and chilling vibes, and you'll have the chance to connect with the other volunteers creating a family abroad! I can just completely recomend this place! A big hug guys, wish you the best and see you next time!

I recommend this experience to every solo traveler. Staying at the hostel and working at the hostel was an amazing experience! Special thanks to Silvana and Cristian for hosting and arranging everything. We agreed on working 3 days of 8 hours shifts. This means I had 4 days to relax and enjoy Bacalar! I had the opportunity to practice my Spanish which I am greatfull for. Whenever I needed help the team was ready to support. Gracias Bacalar pueblo magico

I really enjoyed volunteering the hostel - there are a few other volunteers and it feels really nice to immerse yourself in one place after moving around a lot while travelling. I worked in reception and we agreed on 3x 8 hour shifts a week which means you get 4 days off a week to enjoy Bacalar. There is a very welcoming and social team, and I hope to come back next time I visit Bacalar!
