Me and my boyfriend had the best time volunteering in Xibalbá! Silvana is amazing, everything is properly explained! It's exactly how they advertise it. The volunteer room could be renovated but besides that everything was perfect! We would totally come back and volunteer again!

It was a great experience for me, Silvana the host was really understanding and accommodating. The team was incredible and the volunteer space were clean and comfortable. The location is close to the center of Bacalar and there are great food spots all around the hostel! I would definitely recommend this experience.

I had a lovely time in Bacalar! The locals are super nice and welcoming, and the lagoon is stunning. Make sure you bring sun protective clothing to avoid using sunscreen in the lagoon as it's harmful to the environment! There are two hostels, the hostel is a bit further from the lagoon but the kitchen is nicer and it has a pool. The AC is only from 8pm-8am, and if you work Night Shift they turn it off at 10am, and there's no fan in the room so you might not get much sleep.

I enjoyed volunteering at the hostel. It was great having 4 days off each week, breakfast, air conditioning at night and a pool!! Such a treat. Just make sure you understand which hostel you're working at before you go: - the hostel has a pool and the layout is lovely, it's close to surpermarkets and ADO bus stop but it's a 15-20 min walk from the lagoon. - the hostel is only a few minutes walk from the lagoon, but doesn't have a pool and has lots of mosquitos. Thank you to the awesome team of volunteers for welcoming us, and the manager and owners for their constant support 🩵

My experience at the hostel was really good! The hostel has everything you need with a really nice kitchen and a free breakfast. The work is really simple and is explained well and the management are really good at helping you out when you ask a question! The only negative is that they need to update their language requirements as you need to be able to speak at least intermediate Spanish to work here on the reception. I don't speak much Spanish and sometimes it was difficult and a bit isolating as the other staff/volunteers didn't speak much English. But, I met some amazing people here!

It is a great place to volunteer! The hours and tasks are clear and organised. Your shifts will be at either the hostel (where volunteers stay) or at the hostel. Mine were at the latter and there are bikes to go there. For me it worked well to volunteer 8 hours for 3 days to have more free days to enjoy Bacalar which is a nice small city - less touristy than the other cities on this coast 🌞

My stay the hostel is short yet memorable. I like how they manage and give importance to volunteer's time when traveling which give me more flexibility in doing my tasks while enjoying my stay and exploring around, I had a great time with co-volunteers and the management, a comfortable room with power breakfast every morning which makes my overall experience in Bacalar 5-star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Muchas Gracias Christian and the team! I hope to be back again one day!

Christian, Silvana and the whole staff is wonderful and welcoming. The actual job is easy to learn and the work hours are respected. Bacalar is a beautiful the hostel and I'm so glad I was able to stay here for an extended period of time. The cons: the volunteer room needed a lot of improvements in the bathroom upon arrival. However, when the issues were brought up to Christian, they were quickly addressed and improved. The only other con is that air conditioning is only turned on during the night. This can be difficult during hot days. Very glad I volunteered here.

Everyone I met at the hostel was so kind and welcoming, which made me feel comfortable right away. The schedule of having 3 days of work and 4 days to explore Bacalar and a SUP tour included as part of your volunteering was so amazing as well. My one and only complaint is about the living conditions. When I arrived, the volunteer dorm needed to be cleaned very badly. The other volunteers and I, ended up having to clean up after prior volunteers, which definitely wasn't ideal. There was some talk about having a weekly cleaning schedule of the dorms, so hopefully that actually gets implemented.
