The Experience

Join our young and fun team on Tioman Island in Malaysia. You'll help serving cold drinks and cocktails to our thirsty divers and the end of day. Our bar starts at 5pm and closes around 11pm or sometimes a little later when we have parties going. you will receive cost priced dive education. You will be helping in shifts with our permanent staff members that will mentor you during your stay with us.

Between 23 and 45 years old
Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Volunteering at the host's the host was a wonderful experience. I enjoyed every second of it. You are quickly fully welcomed into the community. The tasks that have to be done at the host are very doable. You have the entire day to explore the island and at night you'll have plenty of fun meeting all the guests and staff at the host and Tioman in general. I also had the chance to take my rescue course and da couple of fun dives during my stay, making the entire experience even better! Thank you P'gell and Andrey :)

No doubt one of my favourite experiences on Worldpackers. the host is so much fun, you get to meet a great variety of people - including international customers and local legends - and if you are a diver the host is a perfect spot to hone your skills, and learn from the best. Tioman is a beautiful place to call home for a while too. Friends and memories made for life - mantap! 🤙🏼

This island is magical. You will fall in love with the people here, the innumerable cats, food and oh the blue waters. the host is the only happening the host on this part of the island and you will be at the front and center of all the fun night life. the host work is easy which is mixing few cocktails and handing out beers, you work with another bartender and da 4 hr shift either day or night. Food is v easy to get at walking distance from the host. You can rent bicycles next door as well. Best part: you get to meet so many international travellers and locals and be part of a great community.

If you get selected for this opportunity consider yourself lucky because it is an amazing position. Running the host is very easy and straightforward. Drinks are easy to make and the customers are friendly. You will also be working alongside another volunteer so things go smoothly and you have help if you need. During the day you can go swimming snorkeling or hiking or if you want to hop on a boat and go the host you can. I got my rescue diver during my stay for a very heavy discounted price. Only downside is not much to do on the island so be sure to bring a good book or other entertainment.

Volunteering at the host was the perfect experience for this last month. With mornings off to do what you want around the island (ether jungle trekking or the host) and a few hours work at the host during the afternoon, where either the locals come and chat with you or the guests do, so you're always entertained. The job itself is really chill, if you've never done any bartending before, no worries, everything is easy enough for you to learn. And P'gell is the most attentive host, if you ever have a problem, she'll make sure to solve it as soon as possible. I would love to come back again!
