The Experience

I am a Catalan farmer who lives in La Garrotxa, Catalonia. My house is a 15th century farmhouse with 13 hectares of land (eight hectares of forest and five hectares of pasture) that has belonged to our family for more than 100 years. We are looking for nosworldpackers members to help with a variety of jobs around the house and farm, including: - maintenance and development of our organic garden. - working to continue with the maintenance, restora

This was my first volunteer trip, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Joan, his family, and friends made me feel welcome right away, and they had extensive knowledge of the surrounding areas. Even though his farm is deep in the mountains, I was able to see much of Catalonia by accompanying him on his outings. The work can be laborious, but it was never more than I could handle. Great food, great experience, and great people.

I'm not a good example to follow. I stayed only 1 day because I have had an accident in my home. For this reason I didn't come back again.

You will share a little of what I lived in the farm house. I learned to make material for the maintenance of a house wall. I fed the chickens, watered the plants, put water for the horses, planted chard, alho and other vegetables, helped a bunch of vegetables to be sold at the fair, accompanied Joan at the fair. The house is far from the city and you need a car to get around the region. The house is located in an industrial neighborhood of plastic and meat companies. Let's take walks in the vizinhas cities.

I had a great time in Beguda with Joan! The house is beautiful and comfortable. The surrounding nature was amazing especially during the fall. The tasks were had a lot of variety and were simple and interesting Joan fed me delicious meals every day and even took me out to get beers and meet his friends. There was a good balance of social/active time and time to myself that I could use to relax or explore. While there are not many reviews here, Joan is an experienced host through WWOOF and has great review there :) highly recommend to anyone wanting to practice Spanish
