The Experience

Hi, I would love to have some help with the dogs and the house cleaning during the week. As well as have company during evenings if you feel like it. Taking them on 3 small pee walks and 1 bigger walk everyday. I am working full time so taking care of the dogs is a bit more challenging. I live in Almere in a city next to Amsterdam in Netherlands.

The staying in Manon house its a nice opportunity to pet sitting Luna, Lili and Bucky (who are the sweetest) the home is 1.30 hr away from Amsterdam by Public transport, so you can visit the city on the weekends. Be aware that this may be difficult on the week days, because by the “rules” you can't leave the dogs more than 3 hours alone. The tasks were mainly take care of the dogs, feeding them and taking them for walks everyday, also doing housekeeping with a detail schedule. Beside this, you will also need to spend your free time with them, so sometimes can be more than 5 hours per day :).

Hi Natalia,

Thanks for the review, I was home the whole duration of your stay (I was sick) which meant you never spent any of your free time with the dogs (you were mostly closed off in your room). You did not show much interest in them either. I know my dogs they behave very differently when the person truly enjoy being around dogs.
The dogs can stay alone up to 6h meaning the work can be done in the morning and the rest of the time can be spent exploring outside if wanted, and that only applies when I’m in the office. You did not take that opportunity nor expressed wanting to explore more. And as I was home everyday it would have not been an issue.
Evenings can also be free if communicated in advance. I can be very flexible!
The schedule is also communicated in the add prior and during our video call.

I feel like there was a miscommunication when I said that I do not host volunteers for them to be closed in their room all day except during the work time. I do enjoy getting to know the person living in my house and I feel like you would have a better time if you would have expressed your concerns.

A experiência valeu bastante, os dogs são realmente gentis e muito queridos, principalmente a Lili, já deixa saudade, as tarefas são tranquilas, a experiência da convivência com os dogs é bem interessante, podemos aprender mais com eles do que com os humanos muitas vezes. Tínhamos um pouco de falha com a comunicação entre mim e a dona, mas conseguíamos sempre resolver escrevendo. Agradeço os dias passados, e espero reencontrar os queridos dogs algum dia (:

Thanks Thais for the review, it was great hosting you and I agree that the language barrier made it harder for us to connect as I don’t speak Portuguese and you had a hard time translating the house guide with the rules and work responsibilities. I wish you the best in your adventures and maybe one day our path will cross again !
