I loved my time at the host! Shiva and his wife Sol are amazing, welcoming and warm people. The first days I was there, Shiva gave us a walking tour of Kathmandu, which was a perfect introduction to get a better idea of the culture and traditions. Even Shiva's sons were super friendly and they make you feel immediately at home. The food was amazing and plenty! One of my favorite nights at the house, Shiva told us about traditional folk music and even played for us amazing tunes on the traditional folk flute and drums! Thank you so much to the whole family!

Shiva's family was very welcoming and kind. It was great to be able to assist to Shiva's walking tour and get to know the culture and city of Kathmandu at the same time, along with getting recommendations from them as well as the other volunteers there. You'll be fed delicious Nepali food by Sol, Shiva's wife, and get to know their two lovely sons! Would highly recommend :)

We had a wonderful experience! Shiva and Sol are two incredible hosts; we learned a lot about them alongside their children! Shiva has a great knowledge about Nepali culture, history, architecture, buddism and hinduism. He is also a great misician. Sol is a fantastic cook, she even taught us how to make traditional Nepali Momos from scratch. It was a wonderful way to experience Nepal with a local family and learn about its culture! Thank you for everything, family! Vladi & Mar

I had the most life changing experience with shiva and his family. They treated me as one of their own all while helping me explore Nepal. I went on tours and also treks all with the host and Shiva. Welcomed with open arms, would 100% recommend for anyone looking for a true adventure.

Thank you family Dhakal for making me feel at home! For me this was te perfect opportunity to live with the locals, learn from nepalese culture, try amazing food cooked by the hostess. I was traveling here for my thesis and i got many insights from the family, they even helped me with the interviews! Overal it was a great experience, they have multiple rooms so it is also possible to meet other travellers. Some insights for travelers that are plannning to come: - nepalse sleep on very hard beds haha - This stay is not in the city centre so you need to take a motor or bus to go to Thamel

I'm so thankful I got to meet Shiva and his family, he is caring and always wants the best for his guests. He really takes time for us to discover the surroundings, I went with him on a walking tour, a little hike and explored the surroundings. His sons are lovely and so is his wife. I truly felt at home and I would recommend this experience to everyone. If you are also interested in trekking, going to Shiva's house is perfect, he will help you plan your own and he is an awesome guide. I really hope to see them again and wish them all the best :)

As in my first solo travelling experience ,,volunteering" I felt really safe and the accomodation was cozy. The room locks from inside and outside. Tho it could be cleaner. I think I had a little bit different expectations and thought it will be more engaging and immersing. There was not really much of cultural exchange, but the tour Shiva gave was super nice, he is fluent in english and answers to most of your questions. Before coming I knew that there basically wont be work to do around, but in the end it was sad it was like this. But overall, family is nice, helpful and cozy. THANK YOU!

Staying with Shiva and his family was an absolute treat. He was a gracious host with good facilities. I got to join in family dinners, visit the local pool, and walk the surrounding neighborhood. Their house was an oasis of calm for me when first coming to Nepal. Shiva was also an amazing resource for trekking, giving me good advice on treks and what to expect. If you're coming to Nepal, this is an awesome experience.
